Scott's pov

Okay Scott, man up. We're sharing a bed for god sake! Just take it to the next level, it's not that hard. Just go up to her and ask if she wants to be your girlfriend! I had been pacing inside Shelby's and my room for the past hour, trying to work up the courage to ask Shelby to be my girlfriend.

"Oh, hey Scott, I've been looking everywhere for you," Shelby shut the door behind her and walked over to me. "Nick's in with Kailey now, so she should be back to normal soon." She looked so happy, her smile lit up the room.

"Shelby, your smile is gorgeous. Your eyes sparkle wherever you're excited, and you squint your eyes just a bit. Your gorgeous, and I can't believe it took me this long to do this," I slowly got closer to her and wrapped my arms around her waist. Her face was inches from mine.

"Scott," she wrapped her arms around my neck and leaned in just a tad more.

"Shelby, will you be my girlfriend?" I finally asked the question I had been wanting to ask since we kissed at the warehouse.

"Of course," with that, she closed the distance between us and connected our lips. It felt like fireworks were going off inside me as I kissed the girl I had grown to love.

"Hey guys, Kailey just came out with Nick and, oh," Lizzie walked into the room and Shelby and I quickly pulled apart. She looked from Shelby to me with a curious look on her face. Well, Kailey and Nick just got done with whatever they were doing and we're going to meet up in the living room and watch a movie or something. Come down when you're not too busy." Lizzie winked at us before exiting the room. Shelby and I looked at each other and burst out laughing.

"Well, do you want to head down there?" Shelby calmed down and wiped her eyes as she waited for me to answer.

"Hmm, I don't know, think of all we can do up here?" I raised my eyebrows at her and she started to laugh again. "Yeah, let's head down." I held out my hand and Shelby giggled as she took it.

"Why thank you, kind sir," I laughed and led Shelby out to the living room. When we got there the others had already started the movie and motioned for us to sit down. Shelby sat next to me on the couch and we began to cuddle as we watched the movie. I can't believe how lucky I am to have a girl like her.

Hey guys! I know this chapter is really short, but I wanted to get something out. I've been working really hard on my new book, which is going to be released on Tuesday, June 20th. I want to give you guys a quick sneak peek of it and I would love it if you gave me some input on what you think. Well, here it is.

"Kailey, come here."

Shit. "Mother, Father. What can I help you with?" My parents motioned for me to sit with them at the table. Please God, don't have them bring up the family business.

"Well, you're a senior now, and your father and I thought it would be a good time to start talking about your future. We've been talking to the dean of North Carolina Law, and if you keep your A average and take those advanced courses they would be willing to give you a full scholarship into their business and law program," My mom was still droning on, but I just tuned her out. I waited until she was done to cut in.

"But Mom," I didn't even get to finish my sentence before I was interrupted.

"I know you wanted to attend the Los Angeles School of the Arts, but you know we don't approve of the whole acting career. You need to go to a college near us so you can continue the family business," Father brought up the one thing I was hoping he wouldn't, the dreaded family business.

"For the millionth time, I don't want to continue the business! I want to act and sing for a living, not be a lawyer!"

"And that is not acceptable! You will continue our business. It has been passed down through the Sparks family for generations, and I will not stand for you to ruin that!" My mother was screaming at me, furious that I brought this up again.

"I don't care what you want, it's my life and you have no control over how I live it!" I started to walk away when my father grabbed my arm.

"Young lady, if you live in this house you WILL continue the business. Until you come to terms with this, you will not be staying here," Father shoved me towards the door, his voice cold and unforgiving.

"Fine then, anywhere's better than here. I'll just go live with grandma or someone until it's time for me to go to college," I was reaching for the door handle when I was yanked backward. "Ow! Stop, your hurting me!" Mother dragged me back into the dining room to continue to face their wrath.

"Oh my dear, you will do nothing of the sort. You will pretend that you are still living with us. No one can know we kicked you out, we don't need anything to ruin our image. If you decide to tell anyone, the consequences will be dire, for you and your brother," Father calmly explained all of this to me while Mother held me down onto a chair.

"Don't you dare touch him, he's done nothing wrong!" I fought against Mother, but it was useless, and only caused me to receive more bruises.

"Well then, It looks like you're not going to be telling anyone," I simply glared at my father as he motioned for Mother to let me up. As soon as she let go I sprang up and tried to run up the stairs to my brother's room.

"Where do you think you're going?" Father grabbed my arm and pulled me back.

"I just want to say goodbye," I tried to pull away from him, but he was so much stronger and only tightened his grip.

"I'm afraid that's not going to happen," Father dragged me to the door and threw it open. He tossed me outside as if I was nothing more than an old rag doll. "You may come back when you are willing to listen to us." With that he slammed the door closed, leaving me out in the cold.
