"A carnival with cops" Audrey commented as you walked through the crowd of people with her "yeah surprisingly the safest place in Lakewood" you joked. You were walking around with Audrey before you had to be called backstage to prepare for the speeches and also help Zoë with her makeup. Audrey laughed "and also your first Lakewood Days carnival" Audrey stopped walking and turned to face you "What should we do first then?"

"Fun house?" Audrey asked pointing to it "fun house doesn't seem so fun, so what about the Ferris wheel?" You asked motioning to it "yeah seems like fun" you and Audrey smiled at each other before walking over to it
The cart you both sat in finally reached the top of the Ferris wheel "you okay?" You asked Audrey as she was looking over the edge making you laugh a little "Im never really liked heights" she rubbed her hands together nervously "when I was younger Fio- my mom would tell me to look out and try to find people in the crowd, like see them two down there wouldn't they make a cute couple?" Audrey looked at you confused at the sudden cut off of your sentence but ignored it
You asked and pointed out some people that you could barely see from up here but you could still make them out Audrey shook her head "no I bet they would break up in a week" she smirked
You laughed at her "you're not supposed to say that" you said as the Ferris wheel started to move again
"Glad that's over" Audrey commented as you both stepped out of the cart "it wasn't that bad" you said nudging her with your shoulder "wanna go the photo booth?" Audrey asked you nodded
You slid into the seat next to Audrey and closed the curtain "okay ready?" You pressed the button and it started to count down from 5 the both of you smiled. For the next picture you wrapped your arms around Audrey and pulled her closer to you
"I love them things" you said happily as you stepped out of the booth grabbing the pictures from the box. They looked normal except one where you and Audrey were looking at each other you were biting your lip as your eyes looked at Audrey's lips and Audrey kept her eyes on yours "they turned out good" Audrey commented looking at them over your shoulder "yeah" you mumbled "you can keep them it's your first carnival here better make some memories"
You smiled at Audrey and whispered a thanks "let's go play a game" Audrey grabbed your wrist and pulled you over to the dunking game Audrey tossed the ball and hit the target on the first try "thats was awesome" you commented with a laugh Audrey got the big pink teddy bear "Lakewood pageants please report back stage" the speaker spoke "thats my cue" you said sadly
"Yeah Im gonna go find Emma" Audrey said giving you a disappointed look
You stood with Zoë behind stage "okay turn around" you put the makeup brush down and watched as Zoë turned to see herself in the mirror Zoë giggled and took in her appearance "hello miss Lakewood" you said looking at her "I think no I know wanna go a twirl" Zoë but her lip before starting to spin around in the dress you laughed as she stopped in front of you steadying herself by grabbing your shoulders "Im not twirling not in this dress"
"Okay" Zoë turned and stood in front of the mirror again you walked over and sat down in the chair " you know I was really nervous so I brought this" Zoë turned around and held up the pink flask you eyes widened "your talking my language" you grabbed the flask and took a drink out of it
You watched as Noah sneakily made his way into the tent "here we go" you commented taking another sip of the alcohol "hey" Noah said as Zoë made her way to him placing a kiss on his lips you rolled your eyes at them. You didn't pay attention to what they were saying "we got 20 Minutes before the show starts and 30 before your speak " you yelled "better go enjoy yourselfs while you can"
Zoë waved to you dragging Noah out of the tent "catch you later" you mumbled leaning your arm on the chair taking another drink from the flask

You shook your head as you felt the alcohol start to take an effect on you "fuck that was a bad idea" you said tossing the flask on the makeup table "and that is why I love Lakewood" you heard Zoë say you grabbed your phone and looked at the time "fuuck" you cursed and jumped up from the chair. You sprayed on some perfume and made sure you looked okay before making your way to the side of the stage
"And now Brooke Maddox"
You ignored Brooke's speech it was probably just a speech her dad had written for her Must be nice "Y/n Byers" you stood up from leaning on the railing and straightened yourself out "here i go"
