Lost

I took a glance at my watch. Dammit! It was almost midnight and I still had no clue where the hell I was.

After arriving in New York yesterday, Ed promised me to do some sightseeing the next few days. But earlier today, he had received a message from Stu, telling him he was needed for a few interviews today.
I was very excited about being in New York and I really wanted to explore the city as soon as possible. So I decided to go on my own. Ed obviously wasn't too pleased with the idea of me wandering through a foreign city on my own, but in the end he gave in because he knew how stubborn I was. Well, I should have listened to him because ,thanks to my stupidity, I got lost and  had no clue how to find the way back to our hotel. My phone has died hours ago so I wasn't able to call Ed or anyone for help. Gosh, Ed must be worried sick.
It has been a warm and sunny day, but now I was freezing in my thin sundress. I tried to keep me warm by rubbing my arms but it didn't help a lot.
Desperately, I looked around but there was no soul to be seen. All the shops in the area were closed, except for a small bar on the other side of the street. The green neon sign above the bar told me its name:

The Place. Creative name.

I didn't like bars at all but I had nowhere to go and maybe I could borrow someone's phone. I crossed the street and opened the door. I was surprised when I saw that there weren't any other guests. The only other person was the man behind the counter. He was a bit older and was probably the owner of the bar.

"Good evening, young lady. How can I help you?" he said and offered me a smile. He looked very friendly and I relaxed a bit.

"Hello," I mumbled as I made my way to the counter. "I...uhm....I need help, I guess." He raised an eyebrow but kept the smile on his face. "I was wondering if I could maybe borrow your phone? I don't know this area and I got lost. I need to call my boyfriend. He must be so worried. I just...I don't know," I rambled. The man nodded understandingly.

"Yes, this area is pretty lonely. You can get lost easily if you don't pay attention." He reached into his pocket and brought out his phone. He unlocked it before handing it to me. "Here you go"

"Thank you so much," I sighed and began to type Ed's number.

"I'm Michael, by the way. Can I get you a drink or something?" He held his hand out for me.

"I'm Alice. No, I'm good but thank you anyway," I said as we shook hands.

I was nervously chewing my bottom lip as I held the phone against my ear. I was praying for him to pick up, but he didn't let me wait too long. "Hello?" I breathed in relief by the sound of his voice. "Ed, it's Alice! I...,"

But he didn't let me finish my sentence. "Alice! Bloody hell, where are you?!" He sounded really, really angry. He didn't even let me explain myself but just continued yelling.
"Do you have any idea how much time it is? You said you'd be back at eight! It's already past midnight! I was worried sick about you!" He had raised his voice with every sentence and I was sure Michael could hear everything he was saying.

"Ed," I whimpered,"I...I'm sorry."

"Where the hell are you?!"

"At...at a bar."

"What? Are you drinking?" My eyes widened.

"No! I got lost and I didn't know where to go." I could here him curse and closed my eyes.

"Which bar?" he asked finally.

"The Place. I don't know the way back the hotel."

"Are you kidding me?! How did you end up there? Don't move, I'll be there in a few minutes. Got it?"

"Yes," I whispered but he'd already ended the call.
Paralysed, I set the phone down on the counter before hiding my face in my arms. I've never heard him this angry. He has never talked to me like this before.
"Hey, Alice. Are you okay? Your boyfriend sounded pretty angry." I felt Michael's hand on my shoulder as I cried softly. "I'm so stupid. He didn't want me to go on my own, but I didn't listen. And now he hates me because I never listen to him," I whimpered. Michael took my hand in his.
"Hey, don't say that. He doesn't hate you, he's just worried about you. And why? Because he loves you." I lifted my head to look into his eyes.

"You think so?"

He smiled softly."Of course. You'll be okay, trust me."
In this moment, I heard the door behind me being opened and closed again. I didn't need to be a detective to know who it was.

"Alice." His voice still sounded pissed and it frightened me to see him so mad. I slowly turned around and the expression on his face made me want to burst into tears again. But as soon as he saw my red eyes, his face softened. He closed the space between us, grabbed me and wrapped his arms around me. He held my shaking body against his warm chest and his hands stroke my hair in a comforting way.

"Oh god, Alice, I was so worried about you," he whispered.

"Ed, I'm so sorry. I didn't want to worry you," My voice sounded weak.

"Nonono, I'm sorry, okay? I didn't mean to yell at you, Honey. I just thought something  had happpened to you and I..." I could barely understand his words because he'd also begun  crying. I lifted my head and put a hand on his tear stained cheek  "Please don't cry, Teddy. I'm okay now ." I tried to control my voice but another sob left my lips as I tried to dry his tears. I hated to see him upset because of me. He let his forehead rest against mine and took my hands in his, softly rubbing over my knuckles.

"I didn't mean to yell, please forgive me."

"Oh Teddy, I already have. But it was my fault, too. Do you forgive me?" As an answer,he pressed his lips to mine, softly kissing me.

"You're not mad anymore, right?" I asked after breaking the kiss. He shook his head.

"I wasn't mad at all. I was just really worried about you." I wrapped my arms around him once again and closed my eyes. "I love you, Teddy." He squeezed me and gently rubbed my back. "I love you more, Sweetie."

"You didn't tell me your boyfriend was Ed Sheeran." That came from Micheal. I almost forgot him.

"Uh, Ed, this is Michael. He let me use his phone and took care of me," I explained.

"Thanks, man," Ed said. Michael nodded and smiled.

"Can we go home now? I'm cold and tired." Quickly,  Ed took off his hoodie and wrapped it around my shoulders. "Here you go, Sweetheart. Now we can leave." Ed walked me to the door and opened it for me. I turned around, waving at Michael.

"Thank you, for everything." He winked at me and laughed.

"No problem."

This took me so long and I don't really like the result. Tell me what you think? ♥
