"Teddy, I still don't think it's a good idea. You need rest," I said concerned, tugging at the fabric of Ed's black shirt. He turned around, smiling and trying to hide his exhaustion.

"It's just two hours, Honey. I can't disappoint them. I'm fine"

I folded my arms in front of my chest, studying his face. He hasn't gotten much sleep the past two days because he's caught a very, very bad cold. Yesterday night, after having thrown up a few times in a row, I've told him it'd be better to cancel today's show. Of course he didn't listen to me, but instead took several pills this morning, believing they'd make him fit for the show.

But he was still looking awful with the dark circles under his tired blue eyes and the worn out expression on his face.

"You're not fine at all, Ed. I'm sure your fans would understand if you cancelled the show when you're not feeling well."

He shook his head vigorously. "No, I can't cancel it. Don't worry, I'll be fine," he tried to assure me.

I knew I had no chance at all, persuading him to not go on stage, so I just sighed and put my hands on his shoulders. "Just don't overexert yourself, okay?"

"I promise." He nodded, before taking a look at the watch on his colorful wrist. "I have to go now. Only five minutes left."

Only reluctantly, I let go of his shoulders so that he could pick up his guitar from the dressing room's sofa.
I followed him to the door and grabbed his hand, lacing our fingers.
Hand in hand, we left the dressing room and went through the long, empty hallway.

"Please, take care, Ed," I pleaded as he let go of my hand, ready to go on stage. He turned around and put one hand on my cheek, smiling softly.

"I'll be fine, Love," he said and leaned down to plant a gentle kiss on my forehead. "See ya in two hours."

"See ya," I said quietly and watched him walk away, making his way towards the stage where he immediately was greeted by the loud cheers and  screams of thousand of excited fans.

Sighing, I ran my hands through my hair, messing it up, and closed my eyes. Why would he never listen to me?
When I opened them again, I saw Kevin, Ed's bodyguard, walking towards me.

"Hey, what's wrong? Why'd you look so worried?" he asked, giving me a fist bumb as a greeting.
I nodded my head towards the stage, where Ed had just finished the first song of the evening, Castle on the Hill, and was now talking to the crowd.  Kev followed my gaze and raised one eyebrow.

"What did he do?"

"He's still sick and should be lying in bed right now. But he's just so damn stubborn and I couldn't persuade him to cancel the concert," I explained.

"That doesn't really surprise me. I mean it's Ed, he would perform even with a broken leg."

"I'm just gonna chain him to our bed the next time," I grumbled and sat down on the floor with crossed arms, keeping my eyes fixed on Ed.

"Good luck," Kev laughed and then excused himself, leaving me alone again. I waved him but quickly drew my attention back to my boyfriend.

From what I could tell, Ed seemed to be doing fine and the only thing I noticed was that his voice wasn't as strong and powerful as usual, but slightly hoarse. After watching the show for a while, I pulled out my phone and sighed in relief as I saw that there was only half an hour left.

But when I looked back to the stage I noticed that something was different:  Ed had stopped singing and his guitar was lying next to him on the floor. He was holding onto the microphone stand with two hands, eyes closed and eyebrows drawn together. It almost seemed like he was in pain and it caused all my alarm clocks to ring.

He cleared his throat, tightning his grip on the stand. "I'm sorry guys but I'm feeling a bit dizzy. I think I need a...a short break," he managed to say before his face went completely pale and he turned around, clutching his stomach.
I was watching in shock as he emptied, what seemed like, everything he had eaten today onto the stage.

"Ed!" I was on my feet in a matter of seconds, ready to help him but it all happened so fast. He tried to stumble off stage, almost tripping over his own feet before his eyes glazed over and he collapsed on he ground.

"ED!" I screamed with panic filling my voice as I wanted to run on stage.

"Alice, wait!" Kev, who appeared out of nowhere, was pulling me back by my arm.

"Let go of me, Kev, I need to help him! I can't believe that he's so fucking stupid!" I hissed, trying to free myself from his grasp.

"Hey, calm down, it's okay. Look, they're already taking care of him," Kev said, pointing towards the stage, where two paramedics were busy, settling him on a stretcher. As they headed off stage, towards where Kev and I were standing, I stopped them.

"You're taking him to the hospital?"

The younger looking man nodded.

"I'm coming with you."

------------

More than one hour later after getting to the hospital and sitting by his side, watching him sleep, Ed finally started to slowly wake up. He blinked a few times before his eyes flattered open and he started to look around, scanning his surrounding in confusion.
I put my hand on his shoulder and his head snapped towards me.

"Alice," he managed to croak out.

"Do you need something to drink?" I asked, realizing how dry his throat must have been. He didn't answer but tried to sit up instead.

"No, no, no, that's not a good idea, Baby. You have to stay in bed," I told him and carefully helped him to lie down again.

"What happened?" he asked quietly, looking at me with big blue eyes.

"You fainted during the concert, Teddy," I said and took his hand in mine, softly caressing his palm with my thumb. "We're at the hospital. They want to keep you until tomorrow."

"I'm sorry," he groaned, sounding very upset.

"Sorry for what?"

"For not listening to you and causing all of this comotion."

"Ed, the only thing that matters now, is your health, okay? Don't worry."

His eyes met mine and I noticed that he still looked very tired and exhausted, so I moved closer to him. He shiffted to the side, making room for me so that that I could lie down next to him. "I think you should try and sleep a little. I'm gonna stay here, okay?"

"Hold me?" he asked so quietly, that I almost didn't hear him.

I smiled softly and wrapped my arms around his body. "Better?"

"Better," he mumbled and closed his eyes again.

"Yeah, just close your eyes. I love you, Teddy," I whispered and pressed a soft kiss to his orange hair. Then I pulled the white, soft blanket over both of our bodies and watched Ed falling asleep in my arms.
