Water Park

"MOMMY!" Darlene shouted in anger. I groaned inwardly, my eyes meeting Ed's as the noises from the backseat grew louder. I glanced over my shoulder to see our two children exchanging evil glares at each other. "What is it, Darlene?"

My daughter pointed her small finger at her brother Charlie, who was sitting next to her with his arms crossed and an annoyed expression on his face. "He's getting on my nerves," Darlene huffed.

"Charlie, be nice to your sister, okay?" I asked as kindly as I could.

"But mom, I didn't do anything!" Charlie protested. I closed my eyes and sighed heavily.

Ed had woken all of us up this morning and dragged us to the car, promising us a day of fun at the water park, since the weather was eventually nice enough. Charlie and Darlene were both head over heels but after an hour of being cramped in the backseat together, their excitement had died down. Of course it was normal for siblings to fight but they have been arguing and annoying each other for almost the entire car ride now.

"Kids, you need to relax, okay? We're almost there," Ed tried to appease them, never loosing his patience or good mood.

"How do you do that?" I asked, looking at my husband.

"Do what?"

"Staying so calm."

Ed just shrugged his shoulders and smiled. "They're kids. It's normal. Matthew and I were a lot worse when we were young."

"I can imagine that," I chuckled.

"OWW!" I quickly turned around at the loud scream that came from Charlie. "What? What is it? What happened?" I asked, panicking a bit as I watched him hold out his index finger to show me a tiny bite mark.

"She bit me! Look!"

"Darlene! Why did you do that!"

"He was poking me!" Darlene yelled, trying to justify her actions.

"Say you're sorry," I ordered, motioning to my nine year old.

"Why?"

"Because you bit your brother's finger!"

"No!" Darlene shook her head, her orange locks falling in front of her face.

Desperatly, I turned my head to look at Ed who was busy holding down his laughter. "Edward, stop laughing! Help me!"

He quickly put on a serious face but I could still see the smirk on his pink lips. "Darlene, you don't bite other people. Apologize," Ed told his daughter. There was silence for a moment until Darlene began to speak, surprising me as she actually apologized. By the tone of her voice, I could tell that she didn't really mean it but they eventually stopped fighting for the rest of the ride.

"Why can't I come with Charlie?" Darlene pouted as she watched her brother disappearing in the crowd of people, after I had given him permission to run free.

"Because you can't swim yet," Ed explained while helping her put on her pink floaties. "That's why you have to stay with mommy and daddy, okay?" She nodded and turned around so I could put some sunscreen on her back.

"You should also put some on your back, Teddy. I don't want you to burn like last year," I told him but he just shook his head.  "The sun isn't strong enough to burn me yet. I'll be fine."

"Your choice." I shrugged with a smirk and put the bottle back in my bag.

"Come on, daddy. Let's go," Darlene whined, tugging at Ed's hand.

"Patient, Sweetie," he laughed and earned a squeal from her as he ruffled her hair, messing it up even more. Ed looked back at me and held out his hand. "Care to join us?"

Smiling, I got up from  the sun lounger and took his hand, lacing his fingers with mine. Together, we made our way to one of the large pools, heading towards the shallow end where it was less dangerous for Darlene to swim alone. As soon as her feet touched the cool water she let go of Ed's hand and squealed in excitement. "I'm going on an adventure!" she announced.

"Be careful, Darlene! And don't go too far!" I called after her as I watched her waddling away.

"And don't forget to watch out for sea monsters!" Ed added.

"Ed!" I playfully hit him. "She's four years old. You can't tell her that there are "sea monsters" in the pool!"

Ed just laughed and curled his arm around my waist to pull me closer to him. "Have I already told you how great you look in that bikini?" he asked and twirled a lock of my long hair around his finger to distract me.

"You only say that to distract me from the fact that you just told our little daughter about sea monsters," I said.

He shook his head, the playful smirk disappearing from his face. "I mean it, Darling. You look beautiful," he said softly and planted a kiss on my forehead.

I felt butterflies in my stomach and buried my head in his shoulder to hide my pink cheeks. "Thank you, Teddy," I mumbled against his bare skin.
He also wrapped his other arm around me and held me tight against his chest. I almost forgot that we were at a huge water park and that people were probably staring at us. Annoyed by one of those couples who show off their affection in public. I couldn't care less about what other people thought of us, though.

However, our embrace was interrupted by Darlene who has come back from her little adventure. She was poking Ed's leg with an annoyed expression on her face. "Daddy, there weren't any sea monsters." I almost laughed at the pout on her lips.

Ed bent down and picked her up in one swift move to carry her on his hip. "They're just shy," he told her. "Maybe we can all go and help you find them later. How about that?"

She nodded her head with a content smile before her eyes, which looked just like her father's, fell down on Ed's colourful arms. She has been fascinated by Ed's tattoos since she first saw them. Every time she had a bad dream or couldn't sleep, Ed would sit by her side, letting her point at his art and telling her all the stories behind each tattoo. "I like this one best, because mommy has the same on her arm, too," Darlene said, motioning to the blue puzzle piece on the inside of Ed's arm.

I smiled and touched mine with my fingers, remembering the day at Kevin's tattoo shop.

"This one is my favourite, too. It means that I will always love your mummy," Ed explained with a soft voice.

"Oh, Teddy." I stepped closer and put my hand on his cheek. "I love you, too. So much."

He leaned forward a bit and softly pressed his lips against mine. I couldn't remember a time I'd been happier. I had everything. I had a husband, who loved me and two wonderful children.

"Mommy, daddy! Look, Charlie is back! Can we go and find the sea monsters now?" Darlene interrupted our kiss and pulled at Ed's hair.
