Everything was silent when I closed the door to our apartement behind me. I shrugged off my coat and simply let it fall to the floor together with my bag. I took off my shoes, kicking them aside before silently making my way to the kitchen. Ed was probably fast asleep since midnight has already passed.

I wasn't planning on coming home this late but today has been Austin's last day here in England. Austin was on of my best childhood friends back in my schooldays. After school he left England and moved to America to study there. Since then we haven't really had much contact. But earlier this week I got a call from him, telling me about his stay in London. We had met up a few times since then, going out for lunch or just hanging out together. I was very happy about getting the chance to spend some time with him before we wouldn't see each other for probably quiet a while.

For his last day here, he invited Ed and me to his place and offered to cook dinner for us. However, in the end it was just Austin and me because Ed was "too tired for anything."
Of course, I wasn't stupid and knew that it wasn't because of fatigue that he wanted to stay at home. He simply didn't like Austin, though he hasn't even met him properly.

I poured myself a glass of water and leaned my back against the counter. The ticking of the clock filled the silence of the dark apartement.

"Oh, look who finally decided to come home." Startled I whirled around, almost dropping the glass. Ed was standing in the doorway with his arms crossed in front of his chest, staring at me with dark blue eyes. He was still dressed in the clothes he's put on this morning.

"Jesus, Ed." I placed my hand over my racing heart and set the glass down on the counter. "You scared the hell out of me. I thought you already were asleep?"

"Nope," he simply said. "But I'm glad to see that my girlfriend decided to come home instead of spending the night at some other guy's house."

I just rolled my eyes at his sarcasm and walked around the counter. "I'm not having this conversation with you, Edward."

"Hey, where do you think you're going?" he asked, not bothering to hide his annoyance as I walked past him.

"Bed. I'm tired," I answered, ready to walk upstairs when suddenly Ed's hand wrapped around my arm, pulling me back before I could leave for our bedroom.

"Oh no, you're not," he hissed. "You're going to stay here and we're going to talk."

"About what, Ed? What is your freaking problem?" I snapped and pushed his hand away, getting more and more upset my his childish behaviour.

His blue eyes were burning into mine and I could sense his anger as he bagan to talk. "Austin is my fucking problem, okay? Him trying to steal you away from me is my fucking problem! And you letting it happen is my fucking problem, too!"

"What the hell, what are you talking about? He's not trying to 'steal me away from you.'" I used air quotes to show him how ridiculous he was acting. "He's just a friend and that's all."

With that, I turned around heading upstairs to eventually get some sleep but Ed didn't think of just dropping our argument. "Stop walking away when I'm talking to you!" he yelled and grabbed my arm once again before I could reach the bedroom door. This time his grip was stronger and I couldn't just brush it off.

"Let go of me, Ed!" I ordered, raising my voice like he did.

"No, you're going to listen to me. I don't want you to spend time with him again, got it?"

I let out a bitter laugh. "That's not going to happen, so dream on."

It was silent then. We were both glaring at each other, hands clenched into tight fists. I could tell by the way he was clenching his jaw, that he was boiling with anger and trying to control himself. He eventually took a deep breath and released my arm. "Fine," he just said and walked past me through the door, slamming it behind him. I sighed heavily and ran my hands through my hair. I didn't want to fight. I hated fighting with him, especially over such stupid things. I didn't want him to be mad or upset. And I didn't want him to be jealous because there was nothing for him to be jealous at.
