Shortly after the principal had left, she was kicked out of the class, uncertain if it was due to her lack of supplies or general unwillingness to participate in the lecture.
She supressed the urge to roll her eyes when the teacher handed her the note for the principal, sending her off to his office. She couldn't, however, restrain herself from slamming the door on her way out, disregarding the trouble she will most likely find herself in as a result.
She stifled the need to simply flee and forced her legs to carry her down the hall and down the stairs to the first floor where the principal's office was situated.
Before she could knock at his door, she heard voices and decided against knocking. Instead, she took a quick glance to make sure no one was around before pressing her ear to the door, straining herself to hear what the conversation was about.
She could only make out bits and pieces of it but it was clear it revolved around Alina and her sudden disappearance. "Forced entry," she heard a gruff, male voice say and felt her stomach drop.
Suddenly unwilling to eavesdrop anymore, she knocked on the door, stopping the conversation abruptly.
Headmaster opened the door moments later and she faced him in all his glory. He was balding already and Aisha could swear he was not only ready to retire but also quite ready to meet his creator. His tired eyes dug deeply into her soul as if assessing how much she had overheard and she tried her hardest to return the look he was giving her.
Just when she was willing to give up their staring contest, feeling uncomfortable because of his glare, he broke the eye contact. He did a double take, suddenly looking confused. It was clear he couldn't understand what she was doing in front of his office. She wordlessly handed him the note her teacher had written with so much care and satisfaction but he barely glanced at it before shaking his head hopelessly. "We have bigger problems to deal with, don't you think?" he asked her and all she could do was nod before he was speaking again. "Go back to class."
She left with another nod despite having no intention to actually obey him and go back to class. Her mind was reeling with the new information she had acquired and she felt sick to her stomach. She couldn't stop thinking about Alina.
Where was she?
What had happened to her?
