Another month had passed and nothing had really changed, despite the seasons and the year written on the calendar. They had celebrated Christmas in Aisha's home, just the three of them and a small fake tree they had bought on sale few days prior. No one felt particularly festive anyway. Alina and Aisha had both had their fair share of their respective demons trying to overpower them and were getting better at battling against them. Jay remained immune to such attacks and considering what they had learned about their nature, they were all grateful for it. While Alina became slightly violent when she wasn't in control, Aisha became cold, harsh, her words inflicting pain her hands never could. With Jay, they assumed things would go south really fast. His demons seemed deadly.

Jay stirred up beside Aisha, dragging her out of her mind, announcing his awakening with a loud groan. They had figured out a way to rest despite being unable to actually sleep and it had proven to be a somewhat decent replacement although it sometimes failed to do its' job.

He wrapped his arm around Aisha's lower back, pulling her flush against his bare chest.

"Did you get your rest?" he asked softly, his fingers drawing circles across the small of her back.

"Not really, my mind won't shut up," she sighed, nuzzling her face in the crook of his neck.

He hummed in understanding, kissing the top of her head. He wrapped both of his arms around her, cradling her in his arms, making her feel vulnerable and safe all at once. She kissed the soft skin on his neck before gently pushing him away indicating she wanted to get up. With a laugh, he let her go.

She lifted herself of the bed and moved to look out of the window. It was a rather cloudy and gloomy day, fitting for the time of the year. Wind was blowing, causing the trees on the hill in the distance to move slowly. At the bottom of that hill lay the graveyard. Her mother's final resting place. She tried to bring back the memory of her kind face and soft brown eyes but failed to get their colour just right, which made her heart ache nearly unbearable. Hearing her sigh, Jay hugged her from behind and pressed his lips against her bare neck. "Are you okay babe?" he asked kissing his way up from her neck to her cheek, making her smile softly in response. "Just overthinking," she answered, turning in his arms to face him.

"Overthinking kills, darling," he stated, pecking her lips softly. "Do you feel like going out for a walk?"

He put a shirt on and probed her to do the same. She couldn't help but smile at him before she started looking for her jeans and a clean shirt to put on. "Should we invite Alina?" she suggested and he nodded in agreement. Too lazy to search for his phone, he simply closed his eyes.

"Alina, are you here?"
