Why is his heartbeat so strange? Just as strange as mine...was he kidnapped too?
Aisha could have sworn they stood like that for hours before finally breaking the embrace.
"I still haven't told you the reason why I'm outside today..." she said hesitantly, both longing to learn if he was one of the bodies from the basement and anxious to reveal what seemed to be insanity on her part.
"Hit me," he probed, a gentle smile tugging on his lips.
"I was abducted about a month ago. I haven't been feeling like myself lately. I have strange black outs and my eyes..." she couldn't reveal the thing about her eyes just yet, she still hoped that was just a trick of the light or something along those lines.
"Your eyes turned red didn't they?" he asked silently breaking that hope to shreds. At least she wasn't going crazy, she supposed. But maybe she was and Jay was too. Were they both still on some weird drugs?
"For a second...it was like...someone else's eyes staring back at me," she revealed, relieved that she could finally talk to someone about it.
"And then everything went back to normal. Except it didn't. Not really. Your heart beat is as messed up as mine. I felt it. And you obviously don't feel cold even though the temperatures are near the freezing point nor are you tired at 2 am in the morning. This sick bastard did something to us. And to another girl. I saw her there before I blacked out. I didn't see you though," he said, his eyes asking the question he was too afraid to voice.
"I think I saw both of you the day he brought me to that basement. I mean...I just saw the beds with two bodies right before I blacked out. I had no idea it was you." she directed her gaze back at her feet. She wasn't sure why but his sudden outburst and the pain in his voice made her afraid to look at him. Not that he was scaring her, she was scared of hurting him further, of making him anxious or uncomfortable by looking at him.
"I guess we are both messed up now, aren't we?" he said as he gently lifted her chin, bringing her eyes in contact with his.
"All three of us, I suppose," she murmured, still unable to tear her eyes off of his.
"Did you say something? Sorry I got lost in your eyes." he said, breaking the eye contact as a smirk appeared on his face.
"Cheesy," she rolled her eyes, shoving his shoulder playfully.
"You liked it," he shrugged before reclaiming her hand. "Let me walk you home, you have school tomorrow."
"Oh and you don't," she giggled but allowed him to lead her back to her house.
"I do but I'm not going," he shrugged before bidding her a good night. "I'd say sleep well but... you know," he winked and she chuckled. "Idiot."
"Have a good night," he grinned, pleased with her reaction.
"I'll see you around."
