Lucas returned to the room shortly after, bringing her a few clothes from a nearby store. "I hope they fit you, you didn't exactly give me your size," he said indifferently as he threw them at her.

She didn't even bother thanking him as she started dressing up, thankful that they did, in fact, fit.

"It's going to be a long day darling. You look like you have a few questions."

"I do, actually," she nodded after she was done dressing, returning to the bed and plopping herself down, leaning against the headboard.

"Hit me," he probed, sitting on the bed next to her.

"How old are you?"

He gave her a startled look and laughed. "Well technically I'm 27...but since you probably noticed we don't age, I'm actually 21."

"So you have been like this for 6 years? How did you survive for that long?"

"You see, my demons are very pleasant. They mostly leave me alone. My father spent years figuring out why...he believes it's because I'm a bad person. You and your friends proved his point."

"Why did he do this to us?" she asked, dreading to hear the answer.

"He is a psychologist. He was always arguing about every human having his own demons...others laughed at him and he lost his job. Now he is trying to prove his point."

"By creating monsters?"

"Don't blame my old man for deciding to stop fighting, sugarplum. You only have yourself to blame. No, don't even try to blame that Jay guy. He may be a dick but it's not his fault you gave in."

"You know way too much about us all, it's creepy. Fancy sharing your reasons?"

"I was trying to see how well you are dealing with it. To see if my dad was right. I wanted to see if I'm really that bad. You see, I do believe I have some good traits," he said, smirking in her direction.

"Well, you are good in bed," she teased with a half smirk. "That's exactly what I meant," he rolled his eyes at her, bringing her on to him for another round.

"Why did I even bother dressing up?" she tried to complain half-heartedly. He laughed before he silenced her with a kiss.

...

"You didn't even thank me for the new clothes I got you," Lucas suddenly broke the silence after they had spent a couple hours just lying next to each other.

"Thank you for buying me new clothes after ruining my old ones," she said in a mockingly sweet tone, fluttering her eyelashes up at him.

"I didn't, I stole them," he said with a grin on his face.

"Should have expected that," she deadpanned after an exasperated sigh left her lips. "I should just kill you before you get us both in trouble."

"Do I look like I enjoy living, honey? You would be doing me a big favour."

"I feel the same way," she confessed, her tone changing from previously light and teasing to serious, sad.

"Well I would offer to kill you but I enjoy your company way too much, sugar," he laughed, oblivious to the change in her demeanour.

"Use another cheesy name for me and I will get my emotions back and return home," she threatened lightly, making him chuckle.

"Okay, babe," he agreed, giving her a sly smile and a wink. "You and I both know it would take you weeks or even months to regain your emotions back."

"Why would I even want them back, its only pain and sadness..." she mumbled.

"You don't seem to realise what you lost when you decided to let go of your hurt. You lost happiness."

A picture of Jay flashed before her eyes, making her heart ache.

"No, not him."

"Get out of my head."

Lucas let out a short laugh. "Stop making it so easy then."

She huffed in feigned offence, hitting his shoulder playfully.

"I think it's safe to get going now," he said after another laugh escaped his lips.

"No nickname? I'm offended."

"I knew you'll miss it," he said shaking his head before pushing himself off the bed, extending his hand out to drag her along with him.

"Let me show you my home town," he suggested after they checked out of the hotel and made their way down the street. "It's not that far away, maybe an hour drive."

"Sounds good."
