Weeks had gone by and they still hadn't heard from Jay. They got sick of staying in the hotel so they bought an apartment with the money Claire got from her last kill. They had spent their days wandering around Paris, exploring the city that gave them shelter.

Claire and Aisha sneaked out of the house at night to have some alone time. When they got to their secret spot, Claire laid her head on Aisha's lap as they watched the stars above.

"Some might say this is romantic," Aisha laughed as she slowly stroked Claire's hair.

She looked up at her, smiling. "Well, I wouldn't say I'm a very romantic person."

"Neither am I," Aisha replied, still smiling. Claire made smiling so easy.

"We are quite a pairing," she laughed.

"A contract killer and a girl who buried her feelings when she was ten, what an iconic match," Aisha chuckled lightly, planting a chaste kiss on her girlfriend's forehead.

"When your mother went missing, right?" she asked softly. "You never told me about her."

"Well, my father killed her," the brunette shrugged, looking at the sky for a few moments before looking at Claire again.

"I guess we do have something in common," she replied quietly.

"Your father was trying to make your mother live forever, mine just wanted her dead," Aisha sighed, fighting to keep her sadness at bay.

In that moment, she could feel Alina trying to enter her mind. "Hold up, Alina is calling," she said softly, letting her in. "Jay is home," she nearly screamed from excitement the second Aisha could hear her. "He IS?" Aisha asked, shocked. "We will be right there."

Few minutes later they reached their apartment. As they opened the door they saw Jay sitting on the sofa, smiling softly at them. On the couch next to him, Alina was talking to some girl Aisha had never seen before. She was gorgeous. She had olive skin and long, dark hair. She looked drained, but at peace.

"Welcome back," Aisha said softly, looking at Jay.

He got up, closing the distance between them, pulling the brunette into a crushing hug that lingered for a little bit too long. While he would probably be in a life threatening situation by now if Claire had paid him any attention, he got spared as the black-haired killed gawped past him and at the stranger who was no longer engaged in a conversation with Alina, rather smirking up at Claire's stunned expression. "Hey Claire," she smiled softly, seemingly snapping the girl out of it. "Emily," she breathed out. "I thought you were dead," she admitted, still trying to understand what in the world was going on.

"Or hoped?" Emily smirked.

Before Claire gets a chance to reply, Lucas interjected, his expression grim. "Hoped?" he spat out as if the word itself tasted venomous on his tongue. "You dare insinuate she was anything but crushed when you were taken? I've always said you weren't worth the pain."

"Lucius," Claire hissed at him.

"Forget it, Claire, you know dear Lucius never liked me," Emily waved it off with a grin.

"How am I supposed to like you, all you ever did was hurt my sister and all I could do was watch since you two were oh so in love," he mumbled angrily, earning another scowl from his sister. "There's a perfectly good window for throwing people out over there, Lucius."

"You know more than anyone how forbidden our love was back then. My father had staged the abduction, sending me away to Europe, in vain effort to turn me 'back to normal'," Emily stepped in before a full fight could start between the siblings. "I have moved around fair bit but stayed on the continent; I prefer the Europe over the states. I have only moved to France around four years ago and as it turned out, I needed some help and long story short, your beloved enemies took me in. I don't think they ever figured out I'm actually one of the people they hate so much, I didn't use my powers for the three years that I was with them, or for most of my life in Europe, to be frank, never found the need for them. I did manage to connect with Jay after some time, I guess I'm not as rusty after all, so I was able to save him and run with him. I couldn't have stayed with them for much longer anyway, they would see I'm not ageing."

"Well, I'm glad you are alive," Claire said sincerely. Emily nodded before pulling her in for an embrace.

"I'm not," Lucas mumbled and Aisha nodded towards him, letting him know she wholeheartedly agreed. Was it fair, considering she had just been embracing her own ex minutes ago? No. But it didn't make her feel it any less. She had never been taught to share, after all.
