A few hours later she found herself on the road. She wasn't sure what time was it or where she was but at that point, she couldn't find it in herself to care about either. She tried to remember how she had gotten out of the woods but no thoughts had formed in her exhausted brain.

She checked the clock on her phone only to see 3 missed calls from her dad. Nausea that had nothing to do with the persisting buzzing in her head nearly made her empty her guts on the pavement but she instead swallowed the excess saliva before dialling her father's number, dreading the state she will reach him in.

"Aisha, get your ass back home right now or you are grounded forever!" she heard him scream the second he had answered. Anger flared deep within her as she pondered weather on not he actually worried about her or was he just mad because principal had called him and he now saw her as an embarrassment. A very annoyed "Yes." was all she ground out before hanging up on him.

She didn't feel the need to apologise anymore. He had never cared much about her so why would that change all of the sudden. She shrugged before finally taking a look at the time. Noting that she had missed all of her classes but still had a spare hour before her shift at the local store started, she let out a sigh of relief. For a brief moment she weighed out the options of either going home to waste the spare time, most likely getting yelled at by her dearest father or simply loitering around until her shift started.

She knew that would mean she was grounded but knowing her father, that meant little to nothing considering he was never at home to even carry out the punishment. Before she could fully decide, however, panic washed over her as she figured out she had no idea where she was or how to get home. Thinking of no other solutions, she called Caleb.

He picked up after the first ring.

"Awww, did you miss me so much you just waited by the phone for me to call you?" she teased him.

"Aisha? Are you okay? Where are you?" his panicked voice filled her ears and it made her heart sink at the bottom of her stomach. The guilt filled her up and she swallowed thickly to get rid of the lump in her throat before speaking. "Yeah, it's me. I'm really sorry for worrying you, I wasn't thinking."

"It's okay," she heard him sigh. "Where are you?"

"I honestly have no idea," she chuckled uneasily. "I was in the woods and I think I somehow made it to the other end of it. Any chance you could come here and drive me home? My dad is going wild. And I'll explain everything when I see you, I promise."

All he said was "I'm on my way." before hanging up.

She pocketed her phone before getting lost in her thoughts once again, not even noticing a dark shadow coming closer and closer...
