"No, no, no!" I said, tears forming in my eyes. Luke dropped the bottle, looking at me. His eyes were red and full of tears.

"I'm sorry, Skylar, I'm so sorry." he whispered. I pulled him close to me, wrapping my arms tightly around him. I closed my eyes as he repeated himself in between his crying.

I opened my eyes again, looking to Calum. His face was flushed, tears in his eyes.

"W-What do we do?" Calum's voice cracked. Luke was rocking back and forth in my arms, still muttering sorry.

"I don't know." I looked at the pills on the floor.

"I just couldn't handle it anymore," Luke said, pulling away from me. "I want to die."

My heart sunk at his words. I looked at him, blurred by my tears. I stood up, walking quickly out of the room. I wiped my face with my hands.

"Luke, I thought you got over this." I hear Calum say to him. I leaned against the wall, folding my knees to my chest.

"I want to die, Calum."

"Let us help you," Calum said back. His voice sounded like he was going to start bawling. "Luke, we care about you."

"Why do you even care? Skylar has plenty of other things to worry about and so do you!" Luke raised his voice. I looked up to the wall, at the family pictures. He looked so happy, what happened?

I stood up, walking back to the room. "Then why did you act so happy for the last few days?" I snapped, before I realized my attitude.

"So you would have a good memory of me, Sky." he looked up at me. I wipe my cheek again before Calum stood up.

"I can't stand hearing this, I don't want to hear my best friend talk like this." Calum said. He was crying now, completely crying. "Do you even know that this doesn't just effect you? It effects us too."

"Can we stop arguing?" I said softly. "Luke, did you swallow any of these?" I gesture to the pills on the ground.

"I've swallowed eleven, I was counting." He said quietly.

"We're going to the hospital." I said, grabbing his hand and pulling him up.

"I feel bad." Calum said quietly as we sat in the waiting room.

"Why?" I said, messing with my fingers.

Calum leaned back in his chair, "I yelled at him. We made him come here."

"He could have died, Calum." I looked at him.

"You have mascara under your eye." Calum stated, reaching over and rubbing my cheek.

"Are you guys with Mr. Hemmings?" A redheaded nurse politely came up to us, moving her glasses up on her nose.

"Yeah," Calum said quickly standing up. "Can we see him?"

"Yes, of course. He just had to get the pills cleaned out of his system, nothing too big. A couple more pills and he could've been gone." She said, sympathy in her voice.

It was hard to think that if Luke did have a couple more pills, he could be dead. I pushed those thoughts aside as we made our way to his room.

"He's a bit drowsy right now, but it should be okay." She smiled, opening the door. I thanked her quickly as we stepped into the white room.

"Hey buddy, how are you feeling?" Calum said, pulling a chair close to Luke's bed.

"Fine, I guess. I'm tired." Luke mumbled, running his hand through his already messy hair.

"Yeah, we figured." Calum said.

We all sat there in silence for awhile. Calum got up to go to the restroom.

"Skylar," Luke said softly. "Come sit down."

I sat down in the chair and looked at Luke. Where did his happiness go?

"How are you?" he asked.

"I'm fine." I said, resting my hand on the railing of the bed.

"Just fine?" he asked. I nodded quickly. "That's better than bad."

"Yeah." I said quietly. Luke stated into my eyes, reaching down and grabbing my hand, holding it in his.

"I'm trying." He whispered. Before I knew it, he was falling asleep.
