The next morning, I sat at the table, staring into my bowl of lucky charms. I was thinking about yesterday, I couldn't stop.

"What are you thinking about?" Hannah, my sister, sat down across from me at our table.

"Oh, uh, nothing." I said quickly. She clicked her nails against the table.

"You're lying," She stated. "Spill it, now."

I sighed. "It's not really my problem to talk about, Hannah," She scrunched her eyebrows together. "It's about Luke."

"Isn't he that boy you and Calum hand out with?" I nodded. "He seems nice."

"He is nice." I said.

"I'd love to talk, but I have work. Plus, I figured you won't tell me either way." She said, standing up.

"You're right, I won't." I said, sticking out my tongue.

Hannah left and I finished my cereal, then went to get ready for the day. It was the weekend, thank god.

I decided I would try and talk to Calum about Luke, just to see if he knows. The feeling in my stomach hasn't gone away, I was worried. But why was I so worried? I've only been a close friend to him for a few weeks. He said he didn't want me to leave him.

I headed out of the apartment, locking the door and slinging my purse over my shoulder. I walked down the stairs and out of the building to walk the couple of blocks to Calum's house. It was nice out today, which made the walk a little more enjoyable.

I knocked twice on his door before opening it and walking in. That's the thing with me and Calum, we always did that at each other's houses.

"Calum!" I yelled, slipping off my shoes and walking into the kitchen and setting my bag on the kitchen island.

"Skylar, hey." He said, walking into the room. He was still in his sweatpants from sleeping.

"I need to talk to you about Luke." I said, leaning against the island.

Calum froze. "What do you mean 'about Luke'?"

I looked down. "Are you aware of him, um, doing a certain thing to harm himself?" I said it slowly.

Calum sighed. "Yeah. I do."

"I know I basically just met him, but I'm worried."

Calum looked down. "We all are, Skylar."

"Why does he do it?" I asked.

"I-I don't know," Calum shook his head. "I'm sorry, this is just hard to talk about."

Calum looked up and I noticed tears in his eyes. "He's just my best friend and-and it really sucks knowing there's nothing I can do to help him."

I went over to him, pulling him into a hug. "We just have to be there for him, Cal, that's all we can do."

"I know," he whispered, gripping me tightly. "I know."

"I'm happy you finally took time from Luke and Calum to come hang out with us losers." Iris said, smiling lightly at her joke.

"Ha ha, very funny." I said as we all walked into the restaurant. We all decided to go to dinner together, even though on Saturdays we just stayed at someone's house.

We were seated at a booth and we all grabbed our menus, looking through them, and ordering. Our drinks came out a couple minutes later.

"So, why do you hang out with them so much now?" Danielle said, taking a sip of her Diet Coke.

I shrugged. "I don't know, I like being there with them."

"But you still like us, right?" Jade asked.

"Of course I do, but you have a boyfriend, so we never see you that much either." Jade shrugged, knowing I was telling the truth.

"Okay, well, what's it like hanging out with Calum?" Iris asked, smiling when she said Calum.

"And Luke," I added. "It's pretty fun, he reminds me of you a lot." Iris blushed, looking down into her drink. Jade and Danielle were oohing at her, making her blush more.

Iris sighed. "How do I get a guy like that to like a girl like me?"

I shrugged. "I'm sure I could do something to get you two to hang out."

Her eyes widened. "Would you really do that for me?"

I nodded. We all continued talking about the girls at school, music, and other random stuff. Our food arrived and we kept talking and laughing. That's what I loved about these girls, they can make you laugh so easily.

"Alright, who's paying?" Danielle said, patting her stomach.

"You are." Jade said, throwing a napkin at her. Danielle glared at her.

"The hell I am, pay for yourselves." And we did.

After we paid, we walked out of the restaurant and towards our cars.

"So, Skylar, where are you heading?" Iris said, pressing the unlock button on her key.

I shrugged. "Home, I guess." In reality, I kind of wanted to go to Luke's house, to see how he was doing. Yesterday, after I saw his cuts, he got quiet and eventually fell asleep on the couch.

"Are you sure about that?" She raised an eyebrow with a smirk.

"I might go see how Luke is. He was," I paused, thinking of an excuse. "He was sick yesterday."

Iris nodded slowly before getting into her car. "Text me later, okay?" I nodded and she drove off. I got into my own car, buckling my seatbelt, and turning on the radio.

I just hope Luke is okay with me stopping by.
