It had been awhile since I've hung out with just my friends. I decided to try and ask them what they were doing today, but they were all busy.
"I'm with Calum," Iris sighed when I called her. "I'm sorry!"
"My mom needed help cleaning for our grandparents to come over. I wish I could hang out, this is so lame." Jade said.
"I would, but I'm supposed to go to the orthodontist for my braces." Danielle said.
I plopped down on the couch, trying not to feel sorry for myself. I didn't bother to ask any of my other friends, since I already knew they were together.
My phone buzzed on the table, which I slowly sat up to grab. It was a text from Hannah.
Hey sis! Just wanted to check on ya. Crazy warm here 😍
I sighed and quickly typed back about how bored I was. Seeing that she wasn't going to answer, I threw my phone to the left of me and looked at the ceiling. Maybe if I called Luke...
There was a knock at the door, so I got up to answer it. When I opened it, I was greeted by Luke with a small box of doughnuts.
"You sure know how to get straight to my heart, don't you?" I smiled, setting the doughnuts on the table and hugging him.
He shrugged. "I guess so."
"What made you come here?" I asked, stepping back to admire how nice he looked in plaid.
"I was bored, you're probably bored, lets do something." He opened the box of doughnuts and took one out, biting into it.
"Sure, what do you want to do?" I leaned over and grabbed a doughnut as well.
He thought for a second. "We could go to the mall, isn't that what girls like?"
I shrugged. "Not just girls." He chuckled. "Lets do something you want to do."
"Then lets go on a walk or something."
I nodded. We both finished our doughnuts before I went back to the couch to grab my phone.
We stepped outside, the warm sun greeting us. I squinted in the sunlight, looking over to Luke.
"Where should we go?" I ask.
He shrugs, "Wherever you want to go, I guess." I looked hesitantly over to his hand, down by his side. I wanted to reach over and grab it, to feel his fingers intertwined in mine. I reached hesitantly before wrapping two of my fingers in his.
He looked down and smiled, wrapping the rest of his hand around mine. "You're adorable."
I shook my head. "Not really."
"Yeah, you are. You really are." He squeezed my hand as we continued down the street.
We kept walking, hand in hand, for awhile. We passed kids on their bikes, family's walking, couples holding hands. It was nice out today.
"Luke," I looked over to him. "What are we?"
"That's a good question." he looked over to me, stopping.
I sighed. "Just curious."
"I didn't think you thought about that or anything," he shrugged. "I figured you just wanted to be friends."
I shrugged. "I mean-"
"Of course, we could be more, but you wouldn't want to be with someone like me." he said quickly.
"But Luke-"
"Because I really like you and I wanted to ask you to go on a date with me but I didn't know..."
"Luke!" I said, resting my hand on his chest. "Slow down, I can't keep up."
He sighed. "Sorry, sorry.''
"Yes, I'll go on a date with you sometime."
His face lit up and he smiled "Fantastic." He leaned closer, quickly kissing me, grabbing my hands in his.
