The next day I got a text from Calum telling me to come over. Apparently he did end up calling Grace and she was coming today.

"Man, I've missed Grace." Calum said as we all sat around the kitchen island. Luke sat quietly next to me, looking down at his hands.

"I can't wait to meet her, she sounds amazing," I said, shoulder bumping Luke. "What's up, Luke?"

"Nothing." He said quietly.

"Are you sure?" I looked him up and down.

He forced a smile before pulling out his phone.

"Oh my gosh." Calum said as there was a knock on the door. He opened it quickly and a girl walked in.

She was absolutely breath taking, to be honest. Her hair was long and straight. It was a light purple, which was fading out a bit. Her eyes were bright green and she was very tall.

"Hi Grace." Calum said, pulling her into a hug.

"Hi Calum," she turned over to us. "Luke! Aren't you going to introduce me to your girlfriend?"

"We aren't technically dating." He shrugged, standing up and hugging her. A little wave of jealousy hit me, but it wasn't a big deal. She was just their friend and the only reason I'm jealous is because of how god damn beautiful she is.

"I'm Skylar." I stood up once they were done hugging.

"I'm Grace." She said with a smile.

"I love your hair, by the way, it's beautiful." I said, looking at the pale purple.

She smiled again. "Thank you."

We all sat down at the island again, just talking and catching up. Grace kept looking to the side of her or behind one of us, which was odd.

"So, is everything better now?" Calum asked, looking at her.

She looked around her one last time. She looked like she wanted to say something, but she shrugged.

"It's just so odd not having Michael. I don't even know what to do anymore." She sighed.

"I'm so sorry." I shook my head.

She smiled weakly. "It's okay. I know I'm not the only one missing him or anything."

"I miss him a lot," Luke said quietly. "Everything just kind of went downhill."

I stayed quiet, looking over at him.

"It's okay when I'm with Skylar or Calum, but otherwise everything is just so..."

"Weird." She finished for him, which he nodded in response.

We all talked a little more before Grace's phone rang, which was her dad telling her to start driving home for dinner.

"I'll see you guys some other time." She hugged each of us tightly before she left.

"She was flawless." I said as soon as the door closed behind her.

"She's always been very pretty." Calum said, spinning a spatula in his hand.

I sighed. "I wish I would've met Michael. He seemed like a great guy."

Luke stood up. "He was," he stretched his arms out. "I should probably get home."

"We'll see you later, Calum." I said, giving him a quick hug.

"Bye!" He said as we left.

As soon as Luke and I got in the car, he sighed loudly.

"Okay, I know you said nothing was wrong, but seriously, what's wrong?"

"Nothing." He muttered.

"You've been like this since we went to the gym. You didn't even read the book I was telling you about."

"Yes I did." He said quietly.

I picked up the book from the backseat. "Did you really?"

He sighed, grabbing it from me. "No, I just want to go home."

"Tell me what's wrong." I said sternly.

"Cory. Cory and I have a history, an he was a total dick wad at the gym."

I shook my head. "Cory's so nice, how would he-"

"He used to bully Michael and I at my old school. And I'm not talking the whole 'give me your lunch money' kind, either."

I slumped back. "Luke, I-"

"Just forget it, Skylar. Just take me home please." I started the engine and we drove to his house silently.

He got out of the car quickly, leaving the book on the seat beside me. I grabbed it, turning to the page I left a small note in, and took it out. I crumpled the note and put it on my dashboard before driving off.
