Chapter 10
"Skylar?" I looked down the dark hallway to see Luke, still in his hospital gown.
"Luke, you shouldn't be out here." I said quietly, walking closer to him.
"Skylar, no!" He said loudly. I stopped walking, looking around. It was just black. Everything around us was black and cold.
"Luke?" I said, looking towards him.
"Skylar!" He yelled, the darkness swallowing him. It surrounded him, only showing his eyes now as he was taken deeper into the dark. "Don't leave me!" His voice faded out until I was all alone in the darkness.
I curled up in a ball, unsure of what to do. "Skylar" I heard a voice say faintly in the distance, but it wasn't Luke. "Skylar, wake up!"
My eyes shot open and I sat up. I looked over to Calum, who was sitting on the other side of the couch. Oh yeah, we were at the hospital.
"Are you okay?" He gave me a worried look. I nodded quickly. "You were, like, squirming and stuff."
"Sorry." I mumbled, looking around. The waiting room was pretty much empty besides the nurses sitting behind the counter.
"You kicked me." He mumbled back.
"Sorry, Calum, I had a pretty messed up dream," I looked over at him. He had bags under his eyes. "You should get some sleep."
He shook his head. "I'm not tired."
"Just sleep, okay? I'll wake you up." He slowly laid down, putting his feet on my lap. I took my phone out, noticing it was two in the morning, and I had at least twenty messages from both Iris and Hannah.
I quickly dialed Hannah's number, hoping she would pick up.
"Where the hell are you?" She said right as she answered. "Do you realize what time it is?"
"Yes, Hannah, I do," I said back. "I'm at the hospital."
"What? Are you hurt?" She said, lowering her tone.
"No, I'm fine. I'm here with Calum and Luke."
She sighed. "You're always with them, I should've guessed. But why are you at the hospital?"
"Uhm," I looked down at Calum, who was now snoring lightly. "I shouldn't tell you."
She sighed. "What? Did one of them chop their dick off or something?"
I laughed lightly. "Defiantly not, uhm, it's personal stuff. For Luke's sake, I don't want to tell you all about his, I don't know, business."
"I guess I understand. But you should've told me you would be out late." She sighed.
"I know, I'm sorry," I looked over to the nurse's desk "You should go to sleep."
She scoffed. "You're the one who should go to sleep," I rolled my eyes. even though she couldn't see that. "But I guess you're right, I should. Call me when you're coming home."
"Alright, bye." I hung up and laid my head back on the couch. I looked down at Calum again, realizing I really needed to pee. I'm not going to lie about it, though. I gently moved his legs and stood up, going to the counter where the nurses sat.
"Can I help you?" One with a short, brown bob smiled at me, pausing her typing.
"Yeah, where's the bathroom?" I asked. She pointed down the hall, towards Luke's room. I whispered a quick thanks and walked down the hall and to the bathroom.
After going to the restroom, I decided to see Luke, just to make sure he didn't actually get swallowed by darkness. I walked quietly into the room, seeing him laying in the hospital bed. Thank goodness. I sat down in the chair and looked around the room.
"Skylar," I turned over to Luke, who was looking at me with tired eyes. "What are you doing here?"
"I just wanted to check on you," I shrugged. "Calum fell asleep on the couch out in the waiting room."
He nodded slowly. His hair wasn't quaffed like usual, it was messy from sleep. Absolutely adorable.
'Why didn't you guys go home?"
"We didn't want to leave," I pulled my sweater sleeves down. "Is it always this cold in hospitals? Damn."
"They usually are. Are you really that cold?"
I nodded quickly.
"Come here," He sat up, scooted over, and patted the spot next to him. I hesitantly looked at him before I stood up. I gently sat on the bed next to him. "You look scared." He laughed.
I shrugged. "I don't know what I am." He smiled, moving some of the blanket over my legs.
"I think you're just cool." He looked at me.
"Cool?" I asked, looking back at him. He nodded, slightly blushing.
"Probably not the best pick up line you've heard, huh?" He chuckled.
I shook my head, laughing slightly. "E for effort."
He smiled, his dimples showing. I liked it when he smiled. It made me feel like butterflies were in my stomach.
