Hermione wasn't an ordinary witch, she was the brightest witch of her age-- and it made her unique, by the fact that both of her parents weren't born with magic at all. Sadly, only a few people respect her throughout the four years at hogwarts.
While at the library (somewhere you could obviously find the know-it-all Granger) she was working on her last essay for the whole semester. She had to admit, Cedric Diggory's death may have added horror in her life, as the Dark Lord has risen which was told by Harry Potter, it was difficult for her to act as normally as possible. Hermione became scared-- what could happen next?
Her mind was scattered, the three parchment papers in which she was supposed to pass by next week were semi-blank.
Only one more week to go before summer break. Since everyone's working on their essays at the library, There's this one girl who couldn't find a free seat. Thankfully, Hermione offered the girl to sit at her table.
"Thank you for the kind offer, miss Granger, my name is Luna Lovegood, although some call me Loony, but I don't really care" the blonde haired girl smiled back at her, with her raddish earrings dangling in her ears.
"H-how did you know my name?"
"Ginny Weasley is a friend of mine. We take classes together and she have mentioned you to me before. Also, I've heard stories about you"
"Oh.. is it because of the yule ball?"
"No, not really. I first heard you from this boy with the same year as you are. I was hanging around the tree at the courtyard when I heard your name" said Luna.
                              "Who?" Hermione blinked.
"I don't really know who it was. But I know for sure they were slytherin boys" Of course, who could have thought that Draco Malfoy would talk about Hermione Granger. He had always looked at her in such a complicated way that no one would ever do. A both mixture of like and hate.

                              ***

Before this year had even started, and going back to the time Hermione had iconically slapped Draco across the face, with horrified looks on all the boys who were there to witness it, Hermione felt proud at herself, knowing that she was the only girl who stood up to Draco, and to top it all out, she kind of found him interesting before.
But good stories like these wouldn't actually end with just that-- in fact, the slap had become the talk of the slytherins. Draco of course felt embarrassed and sad at the same time, having to blame himself for everything he does, though he knows it all too well that the curse inside of him was still alive, but he doesn't even want to tell it to anyone else. Atleast not yet.
When Pansy Parkinson heard about this story, she abruptly went straight to Mcgonagall after their transfigurations class to give Hermione a payback for what she did. But as a result of her sort-of brave action, Pansy had given Draco a detention as well. Meaning the two had to spend their time at Mcgonagall's office, making them sort out essay papers before summer break.
For the past few minutes of silence, Draco had given up. "Ugh, I can't take this!" Draco groaned. "Aren't you complaining, Granger?"
"I should, but then again I deserved this punishment" she said, her eyes focused on the papers around her.
"Happy to spend time with me, eh, Granger?" he smirked.
"No, but you deserved that slap so this detention isn't even as bad as what you got"
"Oh give it up, now. I know you like me. Even just a teeny-incy bit?" he spun around playfully towards her, and sarcastically grinned. "Sorry to dissapoint, but no" She winced back at him. "Now if you will excuse me, let me finish sorting these out and I will be enjoying my summer worry-free" said Hermione.
