The next day, Hermione was able to sneek up after breakfast to spend time with Draco back in their usual place to eat their leftover candies he bought yesterday.
Whilst Hermione was already studying for her next classes, Draco interrupted, clearing his throat and said, "So you like books?"
Hermione sheepishly smiled and nodded in response. "Well, we have a library in our home. I don't really go there that much but I feel like you should come visit us" bad idea, Draco. he thought to himself, instantly regretting what he said.
"Really? sure! I'd love to" she beamed.
"Speaking of books, what are your top five favourites?" he asked. Hermione closes her book and puts it down, taking a deep breath and said, "Well, I'm more into fantasy books, coming-of-age books, educational ones, I know, I seem pretty boring" she laughed awkwardly. "No, it's fine. What have you read so far?"
"I've read this book called Gulliver's Travels. it's a muggle book by the way. My grandmother gave it to me, thought it would entertain me, and it did. It's an old book" she smiled. "Sounds interesting." said Draco.
"You'd be surprised to know that the original title was very long" she chuckled.
"really? what was it?" he asked.
"Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World" said Hermione, Draco's jaw slightly dropped, making Hermione laugh.
"Want to read it? maybe after the holidays I'd bring it here for you" she offered.
"Uh, sure, why not?" he smiled. "Is there umm... any other books you'd want to read?"
"hmm? oh a lot, actually. I wanted to read Anne of Green Gables ever since. It's an old book too, but my mother said it was really good. Sadly it's pretty hard to find a proper copy of it back in my place. I was going to borrow one, when I noticed the book was already teared apart, several pages were actually missing, can you believe that? Who would do such a thing?" she scoffed.
"Anyway, how are you and Harry and Ron? I've talked to them about you, I tried reasoning out with them earlier this morning."
"Y-you told them that we're hanging out?"
"Oh, uh.. not that part precisely. I just told them if they are willing to be friends with you again"
"and what did they say?"
"Nothing much, they just looked at each other. They're waiting for your apology though. Look, Draco.. I want you guys to be friends. I want us all to be friends!" Hermione encouraged.
"I umm. Sure, I don't see why not" said Draco.
It was time for them to head back to class, Hermione sat beside Ron and he quickly noticed that both Hermione and Draco went in at the same time. "Don't tell me you've been hanging around with him, Hermione" he whispered. "Oh come on, he's not that bad"
"Not that bad? Seriously Hermione why do you try to look for the good in the... bad?" he raised one eyebrow at her.
"I don't think he's all bad, Ron. I mean, to be honest you were kind of rude the first time you two met."
"He was rude too!"
"Because you laughed at his name. Ron, can we please just all agree that we can be friends?" Hermione asked, looking at Harry too. "If he says he's sorry to the both of us. And he'll promise to never do it again." said Ron.
"Fine. Only if you guys talk face-to-face" said Hermione.
Ron opened his mouth to say something but he was interrupted by the start of the class. Professor Mcgonagall asked everyone to get their partners because they were about to learn a hands-on lesson on transfiguration. Harry beamed at Ron, instantly a signal for them to be partners. Susan Bones got to be partnered with Hannah Abbott, Lavender Brown got to be partnered with Parvati Patil, Dean was with Seamus. So, she looked over to Neville who seemed very lonely at the back of the class. Hermione was about to approach her when Milicent Bulstrode, a slytherin, sat beside him and asked if he had a partner. Basically everyone else was unavailable.
