_When I woke up, she was not by my side. I found a note instead.
my love, you looked so handsome sleeping that I could not bring myself to wake you up. I am going to eat something before I leave. love you, Ruby
my darling. oh how i would miss her. i already do. i was about to join her, but as I opened the door, she was right there. with no hesitation, i kissed her. my kiss took her by surprise but it didn't take long for her to return it. i closed the door. we laid on the bed in each other's arms. "i will go visit you as often as i can while you're there." she sighed. "loki, you don't have to."
"i want to. do you not want me to?"
"of course i do, but i just don't want you to get in trouble."
i smiled at her, knowing she cared for me
"darling, there is no power in all the nine realms that would keep me from that which i deem precious"
she looked at me, smiled, and kissed me. How long would I have to wait for her to come back? we heard a knock on the door. I got up, and answered it. Thor stood there with a serious expression on his face.
"it's time" he said
I gulped. I looked at her. She looked me in the eyes and knew what I was about to tell her. I nodded. She looked down and got up. Thor started walking away and we followed him. When we got here, we were greeted with Heimdall's serious face. He looked a bit sad, however, as he looked at Ruby. Before sending her off to Midgard, Thor wanted to say a few words to her. He just mentioned once again that he cared for her and had faith that she would return soon. She nodded and hugged him. They had never hugged. It was weird for him at first but he hugged her back. She turned to me and I knew it was my turn to say goodbye. I couldn't bring myself to do it. I scratched the back of my head. "I uh- I don't know how to say it"
she knew what i meant. she shook her head and smiled at me.
" I don't want to say goodbye. goodbye means going away, and going away means forgetting." she touched my cheek and gave that beautiful smile of hers. "i will never really be gone. i will be right here" her hand came down to my chest. the old me would have said that i don't have a heart. but i could not say that now. i would be lying. because from the moment i met her, i have felt it beat. I gave her one last kiss before she left and gave her a small piece of paper.
"read it when you get there."
she gave me a small nod. seconds later, she was sucked into the portal that took her realms away from me. away from here, her rightful home. without saying anything, I left. I went straight to my room and shut the door.
Ruby's POV
_My back was hurting for a while after I landed. When I got to my apartment, I took the paper Loki gave me from out of my pocket and read it.
my darling, last night i could not sleep thinking of you leaving.
"I wish i could remain by your side and prove to you that now I know what love is.
Now is not possible, but I promise you this.
There will be a time.
There will be a place.
One day we will meet face to face.
But until then, and this is true,
The more I wait,
The more I am in love with you."
