Roe's POV
I ran as quickly as I could and arrived in the park before I knew it.
What the hell was just happened?
I caught my breath and trying to slow my breathing rate.
Straighten up, I bent down and touched my right toe and count till eight before touching another one.
I swear the whole eight seconds was me thinking about what could happen if Cassie didn't call. I might forget about my running schedule.
That might be a good idea actually. Screw Cassie and her coincidence. I have to kill her tommorow or later tonight.
I walked around the park for the whole round before leisurely walked to my house.
Went in, I saw mom was baking something and Max brought a girl in the house.
"Hey! " I said and Max gave me a small hug and quick kiss on my cheek.
The girl that sat on the couch watched me as Max let go of the hug. She stood up and held her hands out for me.
"I'm Tate, Max's friend. "
I genuinely smiled at her and hugged her straight. Gave her hand an empty space.
"I know you're not. " I chuckled and Tate hugged me back.
Max laughed and Tate blushed.
Cute.
"Guys! It's ready! Roe, would you help me?" mom shouted from the kitchen.
I walked back to the kitchen and hugged my mom from the back.
"Hmm, what's cookin'? Good lookin'? "
"Yeap. Chocolate Indulgence. " simply she replied.
I let go the hug and she took the cake out from the oven and let it rest while she prepared the chocolate gravy before she poured on the cold cake. Then, she decorated it with whipped cream and red, big cherry.
"This looks so good, mom. You have the talent."
"Of course. Your grandmother taught me. "
Then, she looked up to me. Her face went pale and and she put down the cherry that she held.
"What's wrong? " I asked.
She furrowed her eyebrows and shook her head.
"Nothing. Just some old bad memories. "
I pat her back and gave her a gentle smile. Letting her know that I'll be here with her no matter what.
"Thank you honey. " she replied and my smile widened.
"So, " I breathed. "What's grandma's like? "
Mom was shocked and then smiled to me.
My smile faded knowing that I don't remember someone that I guess very close to me. I looked down to the cake and helped mom to decorate the cake.
"It's okay, you don't remember. " now, it's mom's turn to pat my back.
I gave her a straight smile and took the cake out from the kitchen and served them into seven piece of cake. Put them on a quite fancy cake plate, I must tell, I arranged all the plates and small forks.
"Guys! Come here now! " I shouted and Max came along with his girl.
"Go and wake Alyssa up. She was sleeping just now in your room. " Max told me.
