Skylar's P.O.V.
It's Thursday morning and I'm on my way to school. I haven't talked to Grayson since yesterday at the waterfall. He texted me a few times, but I never read them or answered.
When I got home last night my father was already asleep on the couch with a beer bottle clutched tight in his hand. I took that as my chance to sneak up to my room.
But of course, the old floorboards decided to squeak and wake him up. Being the monster he is, his first reaction was to throw the beer bottle at me. I tried to move but wasn't fast enough, the glass hit me in the side.
So here I am. Walking to school with a hand print in my cheek from this morning and a four inch cut around my rib cage.
After a few minutes, I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. I reach behind me, pulling it out to read the message.
Grayson: Princess please answer. If u keep ignoring me then I'm going 2 start following u everywhere in school. Even 2 the classes we don't have 2gether. We need 2 talk.
Me: There's nothing 2 talk about, Grayson. I already told u, I'm not mad. I'm almost 2 school. C u L8er.
After responding, I turn off my phone and silently walk the rest of the distance to school.
"Skylar!" I hear a voice call behind me as I walk through the parking lot
I turn around to see who yelled and come face-to-face with the one and only, Grayson Edwards. Shocker...
"Skylar, please."
"What do you want, Grayson?" I said through gritted teeth.
"I want you. Please just listen to me. I didn't have sex with Britney. I swear."
"And why should I believe that? You're the player of the school. It was my fault for thinking you could change."
By now we had a crowd of people around us, trying to see what the yelling's all about.
"I have changed! You don't understand, yesterday she gave me a note to meet her in the janitors closet. I only went to talk to her. To tell her to back off because I like someone else. Please, Skylar. I would never do something like that with someone who hurt you."
"I'm gonna be late for class. See you around."
I turn to walk away but Grayson grabs my waist. I wince in pain as his hand grazes my cut. His eyes go wide and he immediately let's go, now taking hold of my wrist.
"Let. Go."
"Not until you believe me."
"I'm not doing this right now, Grayson! Not here!" I shout, gesturing to the large crowd of people around us.
"Fine. Then we'll go somewhere else."
He tightens his hold on my wrist and pulls me away from the school. I follow behind him reluctantly, knowing this is one fight I won't be winning.
We walk in silence for a while before Grayson speaks up.
"I didn't sleep with her."
I don't answer or even spare him a glance.
"I didn't even kiss her."
Nothing.
"I was in class and they were talking about the Cold War or something, so I started spacing out, thinking about y-"
He stops himself and let's out a sigh.
"Thinking about stuff." He finishes, still not earning my attention.
