Skylar's P.O.V. ~ Lunch

The second the bell rings, I rush to the bleachers, praying that I beat Spencer. We always try to race each other there. She beat me last time. So I have to redeem myself.

Once I arrive, I see that indeed, I am the first one here. I do a mini victory dance before sitting down. I take out my phone and hear a low whistle.

"Nice moves." A deep voice says.

"Um... Thanks? Do I know you?" I ask curiously.

He seems really familiar.

"Yes actually. You do." He says in a matter of fact tone.

I study his face a bit longer, playing with my necklace like I always do when I'm focusing, until Spencer runs up.

"Ugh. Okay. You win." She says, sounding winded.

She looks up at the guy-who I may or may not know-and her eyes widen.

"Oh my god! What are you doing here!?" She asks as she goes in for a hug.

What the hell?! How does she know him!?

I shoot her a confused look and she stares at me in disbelief.

"You seriously don't recognize him." She asks, as more of a statement.

I smile sheepishly and shrug.

"Here, maybe this will help." Strange dude says.

He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his keys. He fiddles with them a bit before shoving them in my face.

I take a look at the keys and see a small charm hooked to the chain. It read 'Batman' across it.

My eyes widen and my hand shoots up to the charm, hanging from a chain around my neck.

Robin...

"Oh my god, Miles!" I jump up and pull him into a tight hug.

He wraps his arms around my waist, returning the hug. I missed him so much!

Miles Johnson. He was my best friend for years. He was the first one to know about my dead mother, and also deceased sister. But I never got the chance to tell him about the abuse. Either way, I don't think I would have wanted to. It's not that I don't trust him, I do. But he's so happy all the time, I wouldn't want to drop a bomb like that on his little parade.

A few years later, Spencer moved here and we all became friends. Unfortunately, a year and a half later Miles had to move because of his dad's job.

"What are you doing here!?" Spence asks.

"I came to see you guys! You haven't changed a bit!" He says to Spencer.

He then turns to me and gives me a once over... Then a twice over...

"Damn. You have." He says with a smirk.

"Oh shut up! Ooh tell me your new school gossip. You haven't replaced us have you? What about the Queen Bitches? Do you have a boyfriend?" I cram out, all in one breath.

Yep. That's right. He's gay. Not that it matters, I mean we would have been friends either way, it just helps that he's gay because I remember not to catch feelings for him.

"Slow down. Of course I haven't replaced you. There's two queen bitches I'll tell you all about later. And no. Sadly I don't." He answers.

"Don't worry, you will soon." I encourage.

"Well... You know where you guys could help me look?"

I raise an eyebrow at him.

"The movies. This Friday." He answers his own question.
