Skylar's P.O.V.
After I woke up, a nurse immediately came to check up on me. She said that my uncle, friends, boyfriend, and boyfriend's family are here.
According to her, my boyfriend looked like he was going to decapitate someone if he couldn't see me.
Moments later, the door opens and two men step in. One I recognize as my boyfriend, Grayson.
I send him a smile before turning my attention to the strange man behind him. I raise an eyebrow and tilt my head to the side slightly.
"Who are you?" I ask gently.
I see Grayson's expression drop at my words. He must have thought I was asking him. Before I could clarify, the stranger shot me an apologetic smile.
"I am so sorry, sweetheart. I must have come to the wrong room. My sincerest apologies." He says politely.
"Not a problem, sir. Good luck with whatever reason you're here." I say with a smile.
He nods and walks out of the room. I shift my gaze back to a seemingly cautious Grayson.
"Do I look so bad that I don't even get a hug? Come on, Grayson, that's just harsh." I joke.
He let's out a shaky breath as a single tear drops down his cheek. He runs over to my bed in record time and climbs in next to me.
He pulls me up against his chest and runs a finger through my hair. He kisses my forehead, each cheek, and nose, before pecking my lips lightly.
"Jesus fucking Christ, Princess. You scared the hell out of me." He whispers.
"I'm sorry." I say softly.
"Don't be sorry." He nuzzles his face in the crook of my neck. "I swear, I'm gonna kill that bastard the next time I see him."
I chuckle softly and trace shapes on his shoulder using my pointer finger. By now the nurse had left to give us some alone time. Thank god. I wouldn't want her hearing Grayson's death threats toward my father.
"How'd you know it was him?" I ask.
"I saw a man by you in the hall. I guess I just filled in the blanks with whatever puzzle pieces I had left." He explained.
"He left, right? You didn't confront him?" I ask.
"No, I'm sorry, Princess. He was gone and you were my top priority at the time. I'm sorry I didn't confront him."
"No, I'm glad you didn't, I don't want you to get hurt. There's not a doubt in my mind that you could rip that sick bastard to shreds if you had to. But there's always a chance of you getting hurt. I couldn't live with myself if you did because of me."
"You can't stop me from defending you, baby. I'm always going to do that, whether you want me to or not."
Before can respond, the door creaks open slowly and Isaac sticks his head in. I giggle softly and his eyes widen.
"Is this a bad time?" He asks awkwardly.
I answer 'No' right as Grayson replies 'Yes'. I shoot him a glare and turn back to Isaac.
"No, it's the perfect time." I reply. "How are you, Zay?"
He chuckles softly while shaking his head.
"Only you would ask a question like that while laying in a hospital bed."
I roll my eyes and Grayson chuckles along with Zay.
