Grayson's P.O.V.
As I finish up my business by the waterfall, I begin my walk back to the others.
Is it weird that I already miss Sky?
It's been like, twenty minutes. But it feels like days. This was important, so I know it was worth it, I just wish I could do it while holding Skylar.
Unfortunately, I couldn't. But now it's over, and I can get back to my beautiful girlfriend, and all of our friends.
As I approach the end of the forest, I notice that all of the guys, plus Spencer, are behind Skylar while she talks with Jess, the adults behind her.
They're in a pretty heated argument by the looks of it. I need to get closer. I walk slowly toward the crowd, standing being a tree to listen in.
"-deserve a better life. You think you're life means more than mine."
"Doesn't it!?" Jess shouts. "I should have never been hit. I'm not the one who killed our mother!"
She did not just say that.
"And we can't forget about Emma, can we?" She continues. "Poor, sweet, little Emma. Too young to know that her sister was a killer. Too innocent to have done anything worth the penalty of death."
"I didn't kill them." She says through gritted teeth. "They died in a car crash."
"Because of you." Jess adds. "And you know what? Dad was right. It should have been you."
"Jess, that's enough." Tony warns her.
"No. I don't think it is. Because she still doesn't seem to understand." She turns back to Sky. "So let me make it real clear for you. You don't deserve to live. You're a selfish, worthless, ugly, fat, slut. You're a waste of space, and no one wants you here. You-"
Before she can finish, Spencer's already on top of her, beating the living shit out of her.
A few moments pass before Spence is finally lifted from a beaten Jess. She fights against Tony's hold, but eventually gives in.
Carter immediately runs to her, wrapping his arms around her tightly. He whispers something in her ear that I can't quite make out, but it makes Spencer giggle breathlessy.
She then jumps into Skylar's arms, but they pull away when Tony speaks.
"What the hell was that?"
Spencer stands up straighter, a look of pride taking over her face.
"That was me standing up for my best friend. Jess had no right to say those things."
"And you had no right to beat her up! And she had a point. Skylar was abused because her father believed she killed her mom and Emma. Jess did nothing wrong."
"But I did." Skylar says quietly. "You agree with them, don't you? You think I killed my family. You think I deserved the abuse."
"Skylar. That's not what I meant."
"Really? Because it's what you said." She chokes out.
"I would never say that-"
"But you would think it." She cuts him off. "You would never say it to my face, but you still believe it."
When he doesn't answer, she scoffs.
"Good to know. Thanks, Mr. Jones."
It seems as though that last blow hit him pretty hard. Apparently he isn't used to being addressed to with his professional name. Not by her, anyway.
