Grayson's P.O.V.
I watch Skylar's retreating figure as she walks away from the class. Away from the fight. Away from me.
Instantly, I regret ever opening my mouth. I didn't mean to compare her to Britney. I really didn't. I just meant that if she can do it so shamelessly with some stranger, why can't we do it with the one we love?
I guess I should have clarified that...
I know she wants time right now, and I really want to give her that, but I don't think I can. Every minute she needs to think, is a minute I don't get with her.
God. I'm such a clingy boyfriend...
I need to find her. I need to explain what I'd meant, and apologize a thousand times for ever hurting her. So that's exactly what I plan to do.
I walk briskly down the hall that Skylar had followed. I don't now where she could have gone, but my gut tells me the bleachers. And my instincts are rarely wrong.
I rush outside to the courtyard, almost jogging as I make my way across the football field. Suddenly, I stop in my tracks.
Why the hell is she with Travis?
I slowly walk closer, hoping to hear their conversation.
"Why are you here?" She asks.
"I saw you all alone up here. You seemed pissed." He shrugs. "Just wanted to see if you were okay."
"Why? 'Cause you 'care?' Or because you think I was vulnerable and would agree to sex?"
"Damn. We've never even talked before, how can you possibly hate me so much already?" He asks, sounding amused.
"I don't waste my time on arrogant players."
"You're dating one." He points out. "And another is a good friend of yours."
"Grayson's changed. And Carter's well on his way too." She defends.
"So what makes you think that I can't change? You know I never thought of you as someone to judge a book by its cover."
"Sometimes the book's cover gives a lot away. And if not, I could always read other people's reviews." She remark.
I don't like the way he's looking at her. It's as if he's trying to figure her out. That's my job.
"Go ahead, it's nothing you haven't already heard. I'm an open book." He says, continuing with their stupid book theme.
"Everyone has a chapter they wouldn't read out loud."
"Fair enough."
They go quiet for a moment, she's looking down. But he won't take his damn eyes off her.
"Why are you up here anyways?" He asks, breaking the silence.
"Just thinkin'." She shrugs. "Wanted to get away from everything."
"Let me guess," he takes a seat next to her, positioning himself far too close for my liking. "You had a fight with your little boyfriend."
"Something like that." She replies.
"You know, he's pretty lucky to have you."
True shit.
She raises an eyebrow, urging him to continue.
"I mean, you're smart, thin, pretty... Honestly really sexy, if you ask me. Probably a great kisser..." he trails off.
He better stop right there before I personally beat the shit out of him. He's a good player on our team, we would miss him in tomorrow's game. But my princess always comes first.
