Kina POV
I really thought I had gotten it together last night. I mean dinner went well and I was at ease when I went home. I was calm when I went to sleep, but my dreams........were another story.
Author POV
-Kina's dream-Kina was sitting on the porch of her dad's house out in the country. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining bright and there was a cool breeze in the air. She felt her hair blow about her head with the wind.
In the distance, a car approached and as if storm clouds followed it, the sky turned gray over the landscape. Upon recognizing her father's car, Kina stood to her feet. Her feet carried her down the porch steps to the driveway to meet him.
His usually bright eyes were dull. The smirk that he carried on his face was replaced by a manic and lost expression. It was like he didn't even see Kina standing there. In fact, he walked right by her. Kina opened her mouth to ask him what was wrong, but that's the moment where she saw it. The gun in his hand...Kina's body froze. As much as she wanted to scream after her dad as he walked into the house, or how hard she was fighting against her paralyzed state, she just couldn't. Her words never made a sound nor did her legs move. At least until she heard the first shot...There was screaming. She recognized the individual voices of her three younger half siblings that had been in the house with her father's new wife. The voice of the wife unfortunately never came. Kina rushed into the house just in time to see her father turn the gun to his head. She fell to the floor screaming NO! She heard the next shot and as the blood sprayed forward onto her skin, a blinding white light blocked out the scene. It jolted Kina out of her sleep.
Kina POV
I'm really getting tired of changing my sheets after waking up in a cold sweat. I wish these dreams wouldn't come. Too bad dreams don't really work that way. Well I guess it's good that I stocked up on good sheets at that open air market last year.
So what do I want for breakfast?
Author POV
Unlike Kina, Larry had a pretty good night's rest. He even had a decent dream about a certain someone. The smile on his face when he woke up being evidence of it. He walked out of his room into the hall bathroom to get his morning started. With a freshly showered body and squeaky clean teeth, he went into the kitchen to grab some breakfast to go. He had to be at work soon and definitely didn't want to be late since he was sure to see Kina today.
On his way to work, Larry sang loudly along with one of favorite songs Church by BJ the Chicago Kid and Chance the Rapper. His spirits were high and his bunny toothed smile was in full effect. Hell he even smiled at Charlotte ratchet ass when he walked inside after parking his car. Charlotte face read shock considering the incident from the other evening. Larry walked in to Dr. Lynn's observation and got busy on the preparations for today's sessions.
Kina POV
I tried to eat. I really did, but my stomach refused after only 2 fried eggs and a piece of bacon. I guess that'll work for now. Fuck! Did it really take me that long to eat?! I got to get dressed and put this hair up. I have an appointment in 30 minutes!
I just threw on some nike tights and a crop top hoodie with a camisole under it. A messy bun would have to suffice on the hair because I have to get on the road. Running out of the house, I almost forgot to lock the door. Once in the car, I sped off hoping traffic wouldn't be so bad. Thankfully it wasn't. I made it with 2 minutes to spare and rushed my way up to the reception desk. When Charlotte looked up at me, she gasped a little looking at me. I'm sure my face read confusion as she told me that I had been checked in and that they would be out in a bit to get me. I walked over to my usual seat and pulled out my phone. Turning the camera around to look at myself, I realized why she gasped. I looked like shit. My hair was decent for a messy bun but my face was a little pale and my eyes were red and puffy. Probably because I didn't sleep well last night. Ugh. Great! Just as I was chastising myself for not taking a closer look in the mirror this morning, Larry came from the back and called my name. I wanted to hide my face but there was no use. I got up and walked my way past him into the back without making eye contact. He followed me in silence.
Larry POV
I walk out to get Kina and she basically act like she don't know me. She don't speak or even look up at me. I figure there's something wrong and try not to take it personal. I can't lie though. It hurt a little bit. Is that weird? I snap out of it once we reach the session room. Dr. Lynn had given me a new clipboard of notes for today so I sat Kina and I down and read over it before looking up at her.
Her appearance was alarming to say the least. It looked like she had cried herself to sleep, but I didn't want to assume. I mean we had a good time yesterday, right? When I made eye contact with her, she looked down and voiced a soft:
K- Good afternoon Larry.
L- Good afternoon Kina. How are you feeling today?
K- I'm okay just a little tired.
L- Late night?
K- No...
L- Early morning?
K- No Larry.
L- Care to share with me?
K- *sighs* Nightmares....A/N: Ok loves! This chapter was going to be super long so I split it in two parts! Let me know what you think.
