Larry POV

Larry: Hello Kina....
Kina: Hi.
Larry: Well as Dr. Lynn said my name is Larry and I'll be running our session today. Are you ready to begin?

She looked up at me and I read reluctance in her eyes. I gave her a soft smile waiting for her response.

Kina: Yeah.
Larry: Ok so today we're going to try some musical therapy. I have a set of earphones here that I would like for you to put on. Before you do that though, I'm going to need you to give me your phone.

If looks could kill, I'd definitely be dead. Her eyes narrowed to slits and she pursed her lips. I should probably explain this first.

Larry: I just need to have access to your music on your phone. I'm going to play some songs from your phone and have you pick some that help you describe your feelings. You're free to do as you please with this exercise. You can sing, dance, whatever helps you.

She looked at me skeptically but handed me her phone after unlocking it. I noticed the background picture of her in an army uniform with a lighter skinned woman next to her. I went to her music app and looked for a relaxing song. I found Pretty Thoughts by Galamatias and Alina Baraz. Perfect.

Larry: Kina, can you put the headphones on for me? I'll pick the first two and then I'll allow you to pick.

She slipped the headphones over her ears and after I plugged them in, I played the track. She was still at first only letting out a small sigh before closing her eyes. She softly rocked side to side. I imagined what she must be thinking at this point. I looked down to read over what to do next when I heard her....

She began to sing softly, her voice growing louder as she grew comfortable. It was beautiful. I could've sworn I was listening to an acapella version of the song. She sounded so much like Alina Baraz. I stared at her as she sang and rocked. Hell I started to rock myself for a little bit. I zoned out listening to the unadulterated beauty that came from her lips. When I came to, she was staring at me with a light blush to her face and I realized the song had stopped. I cleared my throat scrolling through her music to find the next song. I remembered yesterday in the tank she had chosen Frank Ocean 'Close to you' to listen to on repeat. She must like that song. Sure enough it was in her playlist so I played it.

I searched her face for a reaction. Her eyes were closed again as the first couple of seconds played as her face scrunched up. I wanted to reach out to her but stayed still. Though her eyes were closed her face clearly read pain. I made notes on the clipboard. The song was short so it stopped as I was writing and when I looked up she was giving me a confused look.

Kina: I-it.....
Larry: Is there something wrong Kina?
Kina: Was it you yesterday?
Larry: I'm not following you. What do you mean?
Kina: It was you. You wiped my tears and held my hand. Was that you?

I glanced over at the window to see Dr. Lynn intently watching. She gave no gesture as to what I should do. She only watched. My face grew slightly warm as I returned my gaze to Kina. I hesitated to answer not knowing what would come next. I figured since doctors shouldn't lie to patients that I had to tell her the truth.

Larry: Yes. That was me. When I came into the room with the towel and your clothes, I noticed you were shaking. I just wanted to calm you down. I hope you're not upset.
Kina: I'm not.
Larry: If that made you uncomfortable in any way feel free to let me or Dr. Lynn know.
Kina: It's fine really. I was just wondering that's all.
Larry: *sighs in relief * Ok well would you like to pick the next song?
Kina: Sure.

I handed Kina her phone and her fingers brushed against mine. Neither of us really reacted but I felt weird none the less. I pulled my hand back and cleared my throat as she searched for a song. The silence in the room made me anxious. Once she had chosen a song, she handed her phone back to me. I looked at the screen and saw she had chosen Ashley by Big Sean. Her eyes were looking off in space. I pressed play after noting the behavior.

Once again that voice floated into my ears, but this time it was stronger. She belted the beginning out like she really believed it. I just watched her. She didn't look at me as she sang. She stared off into space and I could tell in her mind she was no longer here with me.

I can't imagine myself without you. I need a whole lot of help without you. At this point, Kina began to cry. Damn you're such a G I'll hold you down forever and I....wouldn't trade it for the world, world, world. She began to crumble. Her hands were running through her hair as she stopped singing and her breathing sped up. Fuck she's having a panic attack! I think to myself before removing the headphones, putting everything aside and getting up to help her through this. I had her sit on the floor facing me. I grabbed her face and instructed her to breathe in time with my breathing. Her breath hitched due to her sobs but after a few minutes she began to calm down. I grabbed her hand to confirm my suspicions that they were sweaty and clammy feeling. I helped her out of her hoodie so her body could cool down. Her sobs died down to sniffles.

Larry: Do you want to tell me what just happened?
Kina: I just miss him....so much.
Larry: Who?
Kina: Jordan...

A/N: Hey guys I had to break this up in two parts. I hope you like it! Until next time my lovelies!😘
