5. Lex

Barry POV

Kara wakes up in a startle and I grab her hand.

"Tell me you didn't tell Alex!" Is the first thing she says with her eyes wide open. She seems tired and I feel the urge to hug and kiss her. I was so worried the night before.
"No. I didn't." I respond arching my eyebrows since thats a weird first question.
She seems to relax and the looks at me like she's ashamed. I still keep one hand on her back and one hand on her arm. She then sighs and leans back into her couch.
"Thank god you're okay..." I smile and she smiles back, but sadness seems to linger on her eyes for a bit. Its a bit awkward but I have to ask the question.
"What happened to you? You were fine one minute and collapsing the next." She closes her eyes and puts a hand on her forehead, like she's thinking hard.
"I think someone led a psychic attack on me." I remain with eyes on hers and she knows that I have no idea what she's talking about.
"Remember that um...gorilla you um...told me about?" She questions.
"Grodd? Yeah. He really messed up with my mind and...ohhh." Now I understand and she winks an eye at me when I get it.
"But this seems super much hardcore." I exclaim and she nods. I recall James telling me , he had never seen anything like it before.
"Of course, it is. Lex Luthor planed it." Her jaw becomes clenched and I can really tell that shes not fond of this guy. Her muscles tense until I speak.
"And who's that?" I shrug and she looks away from me.
"He's hated my cousin since forever but its not like your typical hater. He's dangerous." She mutters the last word with despise and I remind myself to research this guy later.
"Kara?" We hear Alex, knocking on the door and I panic. I run to her and touch her shoulder, urging her look back at me. I put a finger on my mouth for her to understand that she has to be quiet.
"What?!" She mouths.
"You look...bad." I whisper and I face slap myself mentally. Way to go, Barry. Keep pissing the girl of steel, go ahead.
Ignoring what I said, Kara understood what I meant and she looks around searching for something she could use and I then have an idea. Her hair seems to be striking in all directions and her eyes look battered.
"Kara, are you there?" Alex asks.
"Ill be there in a minute!" She shouts back.
I gather a brush and some makeup with my super speed, then I work with them. I remove Kara's dark circles and comb her hair a bit, making her look even more gorgeous than she already is. All in less than 5 seconds.
She seems startled but I raise my thumbs to show her she's ready. She mouths a thank you. She walks up to the door and opens it.
Alex opens her arms and Kara and her hug tightly. I lean against the kitchen counter as she comes in.
"Hey!" I smiled raising my hand.
"Barry! Hi!" She greeted with enthusiasm.
With some visible tears on her eyes she looks at Kara: "My flight leaves in a hour..." She pauses. Kara seems happy. "Im going to miss you so much." She breathes and gives Kara a kiss on the forehead before leaving.
Now that Alex is gone, its time to fight...or flirt.

Kara POV

Were sitting on the table eating breakfast when I blurt out:
"You know, I was hoping you'd tell me but...I'm curious. Why are you on my Earth? Not to sound unwelcoming of course. Its just...I...well, I" I stutter and for some reason I cant quiet get a hold on, I get nervous around Barry.
He grins and I look at the floor probably blushing
"Well, I got my ass kicked. It was supposed to be the last time I put the suit on, but a blue streak, definitely a speedster, beat me up. Thats why you found me in pretty bad shape. My speed is all messed up too." His tone no longer seems lighthearted. I start to worry.
"Well, from now on if that blue streak wants to mess with you it will have to kill me first." I joke and he laughs, appreciating my assumed protection. His face falls soon after and I know how he feels...defeated.
"Hey, we'll find the bastard." I cheer him up a bit when a sudden rumble outside causes both of us to look out my apartment window. In the distance I can see smoke. Barry looks at me with uncertainty but I fly to get my suit on.
I take flight and shortly after I observe the red streak below me with admiration and a smirk on my face. Team Up.
I follow the shouts and the smoke, finally landing in National City Bank. I look around, finding people running in all directions in the middle of chaos.
Barry arrives a second after I do and he's helping evacuate people.
Something takes me by surprise and before I know it I am hit in the back with incredibly force. I land face first and I spit dirt, rising to my feet quickly after the blow.
Theres too much smoke so it's difficult to visualize anything but I can feel theres something different in the air this time. Something overpowering...kryptonite.

A low chuckle rises the hairs up on my neck as I turn around to face Lex Luthor in his exo suit which seems to rumble against the ground. Something inside me finds it extremely discomforting. I have heard stories, I have read the news but I had never seen him until this moment, in person.
The surprise, though, is not as much as the hate.
"I didn't think it would be so easy to find you. You're supposed to be hiding." His voice contains thick sarcasm. He steps into the light and his face reveals several wrinkles around his eyes and mouth. Barry is close but he knows that I want him to wait.
"Well you're supposed to be in prison, so I guess neither of us play by the rules." I say and he lifts an eyebrow.
"Snappy. I like it." He says but I remind myself to focus.
"Kal-El was never in terms to kill you but I wont hesitate if you come near the people of this city." I spit holding my arms to the side of my body with one foot in front of the other.
"I don't want them. I want you, Kara." He points at me, his metallic suit reflecting the flames in the building.
"Lets finish this now, then." I put my fists up to fight but he laughs madly.
"Another day, which I should add, is near, I will fight you and I will kill you. In the exact way he took my life away from me.
"Kara Zor-El...this is revenge. With love...the Luthors." He does a little bow and I tighten my fists. In a cloud of smoke he disappears and Barry rushes by my side.
"Are you okay? What happened?" His voice is frantic and looks at me up and down to make sure I'm not hurt.
"A declaration of war. Thats what happened." I state.
