Chapter 24: Victoria's revenge

Chapter 2

Bella’s POV

When I walked into my house, I was happy. In the past summer I didn’t really spent a lot of time here. I was most of the time in the Cullen house. When I thought about it, I saw my calendar. I pulled off all the papers that weren’t the right date. And then, when I was finally finished, it showed the date. The 8th of August. The time really fly’s when you have fun, I thought. And then I remembered something. Jade lived here close by! So I walked out of my house and knocked on Jade’s front door. She opened the door with a worried face. ‘Everything okay?’ I asked her. ‘Yes, no, well, not for you!’ she said in a hurry. ‘Please calm down and tell me everything’ I said. She nodded. I walked into her house and looked around. It was a little bigger than mine, and the furniture was well chosen. I sat down on the lovely white couch and faced Jade. ‘Go on girl’ I said. And she started to talk. ‘I’ve seen her. Victoria. I’ve seen her recruiting an army. A newborn army! She’s going to destroy Edward. She thinks that you killed James, so it’s partner for partner. And she won’t rest until she killed him!’ Jade told me. I was silent for a while. ‘Okay. Thanks for telling me, but what am I supposed to do now? I’m sure that Edward doesn’t want anyone to be in danger for him, so he probably wants to fight the army himself’ I said. ‘Then he’ll die’ Jade finished.

No time for talking to Jade anymore, I had to go to the Cullen’s house. Not to inform Edward, but to talk to Carlisle. When I walked into the front door, I had the key, I saw only Emmett sitting in the living room. ‘Emmett, where’s Carlisle? I need to talk with him. Now!’ I said. Emmett looked confused, but then answered me. ‘He’s upstairs in his study. Bells, what’s going on?’ he asked me. ‘Maybe I’ll tell you in the future’ I said. And then I thought of something. Alice could see the future! I pulled up my shield so she couldn’t see mine. And as long as she wasn’t focusing on Victoria, everything was okay. This summer we all were hunting for Victoria, but we couldn’t get her, thanks to the wolves. They still hold on to the treaty they made up after Seth was found with the Cullens. As I walked upstairs to Carlisle’s study, I passed by Jasper. He couldn’t feel my mood thanks to my shield. ‘No more feeling-sharing today?’ Jasper asked. ‘No time, got to talk to Carlisle’ I said. Jasper looked confused as I walked around him and knocked on the door of Carlisle’s study. ‘Come in’ he said. I walked in and faced him. I first closed the door and put Carlisle into my shield. ‘I have to talk to you and nobody has to hear this’ I said. ‘How do you want to do that? The whole house is full of vampires that can even hear it if there’s a mouse crossing an open field outside the house!’ Carlisle said. ‘Gifts are very handy’ I only said.

‘So Victoria’s coming with an army of newborns?’ Carlisle asked. I nodded. ‘Jade said that there were not that many yet, but they move around a lot, so it’s hard to locate them. And they’re really young, so they’ll crush us easily’ I said. ‘But what do they want?’ Carlisle asked. I sighed. I knew this question was coming. ‘Edward’ I said with a sad voice. Carlisle widened his eyes. ‘Because Victoria thinks I’ve killed James, she wants to kill my partner’ I explained. ‘And if she can kill me is that an extra’ I thought. ‘So we have a serious problem. You and I both know that Edward doesn’t want us to help him fight. That’s a fact. But how do we have to tell him about this, without letting him know it’s about him?’ Carlisle asked. We thought for a moment. Then Carlisle’s face brightened. ‘I’ve got it!’ he said. ‘Tell me more’ I said. ‘We can say that Victoria wants you, because you killed James, in her eyes. If Edward thinks so, he’ll fight with us to protect you, and he’ll protect himself with that’ Carlisle said. ‘Carlisle, you’re a genius’ I said with a smile. ‘If you can make Emmett say that…’ Carlisle said. I laughed out loud. ‘But how are we going to hide this for Edward?’ Carlisle said. ‘I can put a bit of my shield on you permanent, so he won’t be able to read your minds. And Alice, well, it doesn’t really matter what she sees, does it? It won’t show the real reason of the fight anyway.

‘WHAT?!?!’ Edward yelled. ‘Victoria thinks I killed James. She wants to kill me for that, so she’s creating a newborn army’ I said again. ‘She’s using new born vampires for killing you?! That so doesn’t make any sense! And I mean, doesn’t she still think you’re a human?’ Edward said. Bam. That was the weak point in my plan of pretending that I was the target. But Carlisle filled the gap immediately. ‘But the knows that we are here. She knows she has to kill us before killing Bella’ he said. I made a mental note that I should thank him for that. ‘Edward, we can’t change anything about it. All we can do is practice fighting and stuff, so that we’re ready for the attack’ I said. ‘Who told you this?’ Edward asked. I was confused. ‘Jade’ I said. ‘Hasn’t she been in a newborn army?’ Carlisle asked. That gave me an idea. ‘What if Jasper and Jade are going to train us? They know everything about the army life, so they can predict what’s happening. And since Jade was in an army of Victoria, James and Laurant, she knows how they work. Or do I have to say she works’ I said. ‘Good idea! Where is it about?’ Jasper said as he walked in. Edward briefly informed him about the situation. ‘If someone can get Jade and the rest, then let’s get started!’ Jasper said. ‘With how many are they?’ Emmett asked, who also walked in. It became silent. ‘To many for us to handle’ I came to the conclusion. ‘But I’ll make up something, I promise!’

Jasper’s POV

‘We have to fight, if we want to win. Loosing is no option’ I said. ‘Cause if we lose, it’s over with us’ Jade added. ‘We can show you how to fight! We can show you how to win! But only if you take this serious’ Jasper said. ‘Wow, sounds like some kind of army joke or so’ Emmett whispered to Bella. She chuckled a bit. ‘NO TIME FOR JOKES!’ Jade yelled. Emmett jumped up in shock. ‘I’m sorry, Jade’ he said. ‘I never said I talked about you?’ Jade replied while pulling up an eyebrow. Inside my head I really had to laugh, but I didn’t do it out loud. ‘The fighting tactics of a newborn are very easy’ I said. ‘They try to get their arms around you, and crush you’ Jade said. ‘So never let that happen’ Jasper said. ‘Furthermore’ Jade started, but everyone got distracted because they could smell a werewolf. ‘Calm down guys! It’s the pack’ Bella said. ‘THE PACK?!’ Edward yelled. ‘Well, there are too many newborns for us to handle, so I thought…’ Bella said. I sighed. ‘If they want to help, it’s fine by me’ Jade said to my surprise. ‘They don’t really trust us, so they won’t come in human form’ Bella said. ‘Wow, fighting with dogs. Nice….’ Rose said. ‘Are there more people or things coming?’ I asked. Bella shook her head. ‘Okay, so I only have to do my talk once more…’ I replied.

I looked around and saw that everyone was doing their best with fighting. They were all very good, but I sometimes gave advise about what could be done better. Jade did so as well. I saw that Jacob tried to ignore Jade standing next to me. I could feel he had a hard time doing that. I tried to figure out why, but I saw something from the corner of my eye. Bella was standing behind me, while saying: ‘Come on, Jazzy, practice! What do you think, a fight with me?’ and I replied with a nod. We stood right in front of each other, and Bella was the first one to attack. She missed me, cause I stepped away, but she immediately turned around to attack again. This time I just jumped, and Bella ran through nothing. Now, it was my time to attack. I jumped in front of her and tried to get her to the ground. She ducked and attacked again. It went on like this for a couple of minutes, until Emmett pushed me on the ground. ‘EMMETT!’ I yelled. He shrugged, while he gave Bella a wink. ‘In the real fight they might fight together’ he replied. ‘Or they won’t’ said while I tried to ignore the feeling of hitting him right into the face. When he turned around, I hit him at the back of his head while I jumped up. ‘In the real fight they might fight back when they’re already defeated’ I said at the same annoying tone as Emmett already does. That wasn’t the best plan, cause he started chasing me. and I thought that I was really happy with my family. Sometimes.
