The alcohol makes the anger build up in my stomach. I hate her, I hate him... I hate everyone.
"Hey"
I turn around to face Trevor who's got a small smirk on his face. I sigh and try to walk past him, but he puts his arm in front of me.
"What do you want?" I ask annoyingly.
"I saw what just happened. Let me just say... I'm not surprised"
"What do you mean?" I ask, narrowing my eyes at him.
"Shane always throws away his girls. Sooner or later, one way or another, he always does. He never stays with the same one for long" he says with a shrug. Not knowing what to say or do, I panic.
"How could he... I just..."
"Hush, it's okay Kayla" he says with a soothing voice while hugging me. It feels wrong to even touch him but it's nothing compared to what Shane's doing to Bridget right now.
Suddenly, right when I'm hugging Trevor, Shane and Bridget walks out of the bedroom. When they notice me and Trevor hugging, Bridget bursts out laughing and Shane's eyes widen. He then rushes down the stairs, past us and out through the entrance to the house.
The confusion that hits me is overwhelming. He just slept with another girl in front of my face, and not just with anyone - with the biggest hoe on the planet! On top of that he obviously thinks that it's not okay for me to hug Trevor, and he won't even talk to me about it. I'm speechless.
"Screw him, I'm here at least..." Trevor says while pulling me away from the crowd. He walks closer, leaning in to kiss me, but I back away. I know what Shane just did, but I'm not as bad as he is.
"Excuse me" I say while walking away to a more quiet place.
"Oh, come on! Fucking goodgirl" he shouts behind me and I roll my eyes. The alcohol has now reached its climax and my legs wobble as I walk amongst a small corridor. Feeling lonely and stupid, I decide to call my mother.
"Kayla, hello! How are you doing tonight?" she says when she finally answers the phone.
"Hi mother, I'm great" I giggle. I don't know why I giggle but it's been some time since last I saw her, so hearing her voice again makes me happy in a way.
"Honey, are you alright? Your voice sounds a bit... Thick"
"Oh, no, I'm amazing actually" I laugh for a little bit before stumbling a few more steps forward, almost tripping.
"Kayla Smith, are you drunk? I hear music in the background" she suddenly asks with a worried voice.
"... No" I panic, not knowing what to answer.
"Tell me the truth"
"... Yes" I finally say with a sigh.
"My lord. Okay, I'm picking you up right now. I won't let you be destroyed by those freaks at your school"
"Mother, it's several hours of driving. Everyone, including me, will be gone by the time you get here"
"Fine. Well, where do you live? Is it close to where you are?" she asks.
"I'm not entirely sure. I got here with Shane"
"Seriously?"
"Yeah, I live in his house"
Mother goes completely silent for a good half minute before answering.
"Okay, I'm not enjoying what I'm hearing. Let me pay your dorm room again. You're not safe where you are right now"
"... I can't move out" I say, suddenly feeling a bit nervous. Mother is already disagreeing to my choices but this one she's not prepared for, for sure.
"And why is that?" she asks, almost sounding nervous as well.
"... Because we're together"
When I say that last word there is no sound from the other end for the longest minute in my life. Well, I don't really know if me and Shane are together anymore considering what he just did to me, but I still needed to tell mother sooner or later.
"But I actually don't know if we even are anymore, since I just saw him walking into a bedroom with another girl..." I start, my eyes watering. "And now I don't know what to do because then he saw me hugging his male friend, got mad and left"
"Well, I must say that I'm not surprised darling. I tried warning you several times about their ways. Either way, you should really reconsider about the dorm room. It would be much better for you"
"... I will, mother. I have to go now, bye"
"Goodbye honey"
When we've hung up I walk back towards the living room to face total chaos. Everyone has gathered in a circle around two people fighting. When I've walked closer, I realise that it's none other that Trevor and Shane shouting at each other, awfully close getting into a fist fight.
"YOU DISGUST ME! I CAN'T BELIEVE WE WERE FRIENDS ONCE" Shane shouts and I stop close enough to see his face between a few backs of people standing in front of me.
"Yeah, me neither Shane" Trevor laughs mockingly while looking at some other people around them for validation. I narrow my eyes at him even though I know he can't see me. I can't believe how weak of a person he is.
"Seriously? You have to feel validation from the others in the room? I should be the one laughing at you, you son of a bitch!" Shane sputters and jumps forward towards Trevor, but gets held back by a few people from the crowd.
"You know what? Your mum must have been sooo happy when she finally got to die so she never had to lay eyes on you ever again"
When he's said that last word, everyone in the room gasp and freeze. Shane's eyes go completely black before he turns around and leaves the room. A few people sigh Trevor's name and tell him that he went too far as I run out of the room, after Shane.
