It's monday and I'm walking towards the acoustic building when I notice a huge crowd of people standing outside the door. Even more people are standing all over the parking lot and when I turn towards the road, a big black car is standing still there. A few men, looking like lifeguards, open the door and a man climbs out of the car.
The crowd gets louder and I push myself through, trying to reach the door. Everyone is completely caught up in whoever walked out of that car. I finally get inside and spot Crystal, Bridget and Theo.
"Hey, what's going on? Why's everyone shouting and gathering outside?" I ask, looking at all three of them waiting for an answer.
"Fernando Daniel is here this week to help with our performances for Fall Concert" Theo answers and shrugs.
"Fernando Daniel? Who's that?"
"You don't know who he is?!" Crystal exclaims and I shake my head. "Oh my god... He won the portuguese 'The Voice' last year"
"Oh" I mumble and she pulls out her phone from her pocket. She types something in the search box in youtube and shows me.
When we've watched the whole video my chin is almost touching the ground.
"Wow! His voice is... Amazing" I smile and Crystal nods. She's about to say something when someone in the room claps their hands. I turn around and see the principal standing on a table. Everyone turn silent.
"Good morning, students. As all of you probably know by now, we have a very special guest here this week; Fernando Daniel" he starts and everyone applauses when he mentions Fernando's name. "Okay, okay. I just want to tell you to treat this man with respect, he's just like any other human being in this room. I've now put up a schedule on the billboard on your left, that says which performer och performers is next to have their meeting with Fernando. Thank you"
Everyone applauses again and he jumps down from the table. The room fills up with loud voices and almost everyone runs to the billboard to find out when it's their turn to meet Fernando, including Crystal, Theo and Bridget. I roll my eyes.
"Hey, Kayla! You and Trevor are first" Theo shouts, trying to drown out everyone else's loud voices. I nod and look around me to find Trevor, but I don't see him. After some walking around I find Shane talking to Bridget. I debate in my head if I really should ask him but I decide to do it.
"Hey, do you know where Trevor is?" I ask, and Shane's eyes light up for a split second when he sees me.
"Oh, he went to the studio a while ago" he says with a slight smirk plastered on his face. I can feel how Bridget's eyes are burning on me but I ignore her. I'm not in the mood for that today.
"Thanks" I smile and walk towards the studio. Trevor's already inside talking and laughing with Fernando, and when I walk in they stop.
"Hi, I'm Kayla" I greet Fernando and we shake hands.
"Hello, nice to meet you" he smiles and gestures me to sit down on the chair next to Trevor. "So, tell me about your performance"
"It's a duet where we've mixed the song 'Heaven' and 'More than words' together, to make it a bit more interesting" Trevor says and Fernando nods in interest.
"That sounds really nice. Try to sing a few lines for me, will you?"
"Sure" we say in choir and he grabs a guitar and the chord paper. It doesn't take long before his fingers start stringing along the strings in a very professional way. I can tell that he's really good at playing.
I start singing the first lines and Trevor soon follows, just as we've practised to do it before. But, even though we're singing it all right I can still feel a certain aura in the room. It's almost a little awkward.
"It's an amazing performance guys. Really. I only have one issue, actually. There is some kind of tension in the air and it infects your singing as well. Figure everything out between you two and you will have a masterpiece at the concert" Fernando says and we nod. I get what he means by tension since I almost feel like Trevor's grumpy about something and takes it out on me.
"Thank you for the feedback" I smile while standing up, as do Trevor.
"No problem. Good luck guys!" Fernando says and we walk outside the studio. I stop, expecting Trevor to do it as well, but he doesn't. He just keeps walking.
"Why are you grumpy?" I ask him, but he still keeps going. I gently pull him back by his arm, causing him to turn around with a strange look on his face. It's not happy, but not mad either.
"What do you want?" he asks, almost sounding bored.
"I asked you, why so grumpy?"
"I'm not grumpy, just... Not pleased" he sighs and I lift an eyebrow meaning that he should tell me more about it. He simply rolls his eyes.
"Well? Are you going to tell me or what? We can't afford you being unfocused now when we have to be on our best side at all times, Trevor" I tell him and he waits a few seconds before answering.
"I've had an eye on you, since the first time I saw you. I thought you felt the same until yesterday" he says and snatches away his arm before walking away from me with long steps.
What the...? I haven't noticed something like that from him at all. I must be blind, I think for myself. What do I do about a situation such as this? He's Shane's best friend, but at the same time Shane doesn't want to show off our 'thing' to the world and blames it on Bridget's feelings for him? Bridget and feelings don't even belong in the same sentence.
