Heaven isn't too far away
Closer to it every day
No matter what your friends say
I know we're gonna find a way
More than words (words) is all you have to do
to make it real
then you wouldn't have to say
The days pass by in a heartbeat and before I know it, it's friday. Me and Trevor are standing in the recording studio rehearsing the chorus part of the duet, but my mind just keeps going elsewhere.
Shane hasn't mentioned anything about what happened on monday, and I doubt he ever will. I must say I'm almost happy he hasn't spoken about it since I don't understand what happened myself.
The only thing I do understand is how hurt and broken he is, and he's using this mean persona to protect himself from getting hurt once more. I doubt that he feels like I'm the only one he can trust, since he has Trevor as his best friend.
Heaven isn't too far away
Heaven isn't too far away
Heaven isn't too far away
'Cause I'd already know
Saying how I love you
"That sounded pretty good" Trevor smiles as he's sung the last sentence. "But, I know that you're disturbed in your mind. I can tell when you're singing"
I sigh and smile a little. "Yeah, it's been a lot lately"
Suddenly someone clears their throat in the microphone in the other room. Both me and Trevor jump before turning towards the glass window separating the two rooms.
"Kayla, I need you to come over to this room right now" Crystal instructs me through the microphone and I laugh while opening the door and walking in to her.
"How is it going?" she asks, seemingly generally interested for once.
"It's fine. You know, we're just doing our thing and all that" I smile and she nods.
"Anyway, me, Bridget, Theo, Trevor and Shane are going to Muskoka Sanitorium after school. I just wanted to ask you if you maybe want to come along?"
"Muskoka-what?" I ask confusingly and she laughs at my pronounciation.
"It's an abandoned sanitorium, Canada's first tuberculosis sanitorium for your information, built in 1897"
I wait a couple of seconds to see if she's actually joking, but she clearly isn't. When she waits for my answer with hopeful eyes I can't help but burst out into hysterical laughter.
"Are you mad?!"
"Oh come on Kayla, life is boring without some spice in it" she laughs with me and I shake my head.
"I can't believe you're serious right now. But, oh well... If all of you are going, then I guess I am too"
"Yey!" she squeals and I roll my eyes while laughing.
Later, after school, I'm walking towards the parking lot to meet up the others. It's completely empty of people and all living creatures really, just me and the group I'm going to the abandoned place with.
"You ready?" Crystal asks me when I approach them. I nod. Just when I'm about to say something to her, I see how Shane and Bridget walks a bit further away and she's just all over him. Hugging him, giggling and stuff like that. Just the sight of the two of them together makes me nauseous.
