CHAPTER TWENTY!!!! IT TAKES A UNEXPECTED TURN!!!!

"Don't speak unless spoken to. Don't look anyone in the eye unless asked to dance or spoken to. Stay by Lord Sesshomaru's side unless asked to dance. Be on your best behavior and don't make a fool out of yourself." Rin said before we landed on the castle grounds. The castle itself was in the clouds itself. It was the most fasinating thing I've seen since coming to this time.

"Are you reminding me or yourself?" I asked.

"Myself." She said nervously.

"Don't be nervous, I'll be your shadow. Even if you are asked to dance, I will be not far from you." I assured her.

"What if you are asked to dance?" She asked.

"I have no interest in being courted. I will politely turn down any offers." I said.

"But....what if you meet someone nice?" She asked.

"I have no time to dabble in the complexities of love or marriage agreements. Maybe after I come to Finality." I said with a short chuckle.

"Oh.....well you never know." She said I landed behind Lord Sesshomaru. Rin got off before I. A servant approached us and welcomed us to the Lady Mother's castle. We were then brought into the ballroom. It was an oven off different varieties of demonic energy. My whole body was vibrating with the energy of the room. I bowed my head and kept close to Rin.

"My beloved son! You have decided to come to the ball I've worked so hard on for you! I see you brought the witch too. I hope she isn't your date to this function. You will sorely disappointed the respectable women what have traveled for a chance of being your mate." His mother said. I looked down and her stomach. That would be where I looked at everyone during this ball.

"She is to watch Rin." He said coldly. I didn't need to even look at him to know his mood was most sour.

"Oh? That's convenient! She can watch over her and some of the men I have chosen​ for her. Meanwhile I can pay more attention to my son's interactions." She said. Her voice was just as stolic as her son's, even when she dressed it up with fake emotions. You could always feel the icy bite she had.

"I have expressed my intentions with Rin. She is no concern of yours." He said tensely. I could feel Rin become even more nervous beside me.

"Nonsense! She is your ward and by extension she is also mine. The first male I think you'll find suitable is Riki. He's the distant cousin of Lord Ida." She began.

"Mother." He warned.

"Oh fine, I'll let them seek her out. Now, there is a woman I'd like you to meet." She said. "Kuzu, come and meet my son." She called. A demon, a dog demon at that, practically floated to us.

"Good evening Lord Sesshomaru. It is a great honor to be in your presence tonight." She said bowing. Now there was three powerful demons with in three feet of me. My skin was going to crawl away by the end of the night, I could feel it.

"She is from the East from a sizable hold in the hills. Her father is interested in trading with the west should you choose his daughter for your mate." His mother said. I had to stop myself from flinching. Hey, basically marry this girl! Her dad will pay you! To me, that makes the girl appear less attractive.

I was just going to have to grow accustom to the traditions of this world. However, I will find a balance between my customs and their own. I will not completely reform to their beliefs because that will be like giving up who I am. A man walked up, he wasn't nearly as strong as the three before me but he was a dog demon as well.
