SESSHOMARU'S POV

I watched her body topple to the ground giving way to the fatigue of the trials. Talia stepped towards her and took the staff from her limp grasp. Then Helena's body glowed and disappeared into the staff. "Poor thing failed." Talia shook her head.

"She didn't fail, she passed all your trials." I growled.

"Yes but she was too walk across the bridge once more. Once she did that she would've been the rightful owner of my spear. Yet she was too weak. Now she will rest ever more with me. Leave demon, you are free of her." She said firmly.

"Return her to me at once." I demanded. I would not return with out her. The castle would be a mess, Rin would cry along with Jaken and I would once again be in charge of everything within my lands. In my gut a feeling bloomed, a feeling I have only felt once, when Rin died the second time.

"You want her? Come get her." Talia smirked holding out the spear for me on the other side. I looked down at the bridge and scoffed. As if such a thing would effect me. Not that it was necessary for me to even walk across the bridge. I floated up and crossed the bridge by air. "Nice try demon." She laughed.

My eyes closed and when they opened I was back in the wood. My arm was missing and I was wounded. Beside me was Rin the first day I saw her. With out knowing why I shoved my hand through her rib cage. The feeling grew in my gut as I watched Rin's eyes went wide before she took her final breaths.

"You're illusions won't effect me." I said looking. My body rested there until I was healed. I got up and walked through the woods. Jaken found me once more. He went on his usual rants and bowed to me. When he did I placed a boot on top of his head then stomped down. His skull collapsed and he died instantly. Well, that was something I had thought about doing myself anyways. Yet, that feeling in my gut grew at the sight of him dead.

I continued through the illusion with no ability to stop myself. Days passed and I walked my lands killing all who came before me. Even my brother and his pack. I pushed the foreign feeling to the side. This illusion wasn't phasing me. "The meaning of this is lost on me." I say.

"Really? You don't feel a thing? Not even after killing your friends and brother? Not even all those innocent humans? How cold you've become my son." My father's voice said beside me.

"You are not real, nor were they." I say looking at him.

"If they were?" He asked raising an eyebrow.

"What's done is done." I say coldly.

"I'm disappointed in you son. I had hopes that one day you would be more open as you went through life." He said.

"Your opinion doesn't matter. You died for your love of a human woman and your half breed son. You we're weak. I'm strong." I said.

"Real strength isn't gained by closing yourself. Only the truly strong can be kind with no discrimination." He said. The world faded and I was standing in front of Helena and Rin. They were sitting down facing away from me crying.

"It's so cold." Rin shivered whimpering as she did.

"I know, how can anything survive this chill? How can one move fluidly when the very blood in their veins are freezing up." She spat turning her head to glare back at me.

"Why Lord Sesshomaru? Why can't you just warm up?" Rin asked looking at me with larger tear filled eyes. "I loved you, I looked up to you." She sobbed then started to freeze up. "I'm scared...make it stop Lord Sessh..."

"RIN! YOU COLD HEARTED BASTARD LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE!" Helena howled. She touched Rin and she shattered. "YOU ARE A WEAK SELFISH SON OF A BITCH! YOU...U..." She began screamed but started to freeze up just as Rin had. "You don't care" She cried before completely freezing up. Jaken walked in and cried. From his eyes blood poured out.

"Why don't you bare the weight of your own emotions? Why must I show your feelings?" He cried gripping onto my pant leg. This scene was....unsettling to me.

"You choose to cry for me, I have no need of tears." I said looking down at him. He sobbed harder whipping the bloodied tears on my pants. I found myself covered in blood as the world faded.

"It must feel so good being free of joy, of love? Nameless to the world. Only known as fear, anger and hate." My mother's voice said through the dark. "Even as Alpha of the western pack, as Lord of the west, you just don't have it in you to lead. Not like your father." She sighed sadly.

"Stop this, it's pointless." I said firmly getting tired.

"It's never pointless. You can't hide the feelings churning in your gut." Talia said and I found myself across the bridge. Her spear glowed and Helena appeared in her arms. "You passed flawlessly, typical demon of your breed." She said handing her body to me. I grabbed her ignoring the clotting blood over her body. She then rested the spear over her body. "Take them, you both are worthy of it. Now go on." She said and the gate to the mortal plane opened behind her. I walked towards the gate ready to return. "Oh, and Lord Sesshomaru? That day you saved Rin, you started warming up. Don't be afraid of the temperature change." She said.

I disregarded her statement. As if I would ever fear anything. I exit the other side and took to the skies heading to my castle. As I flew Helena stayed still in my arms. It was like she was frozen. I quickly dismissed the thought and focused on getting back. I landed on my balcony and carried her down to the springs. I sat her on the lip of the wooden bath and undressed her, putting the spear to the side. Once she was naked I laid her out in the tub.

I climbed up the stairs and found the first servant in the halls. After giving them orders to clean Helena down below I went to my studies.
