We all went back to Riki's strong hold when Rin was due to give birth. Unfortunately she didn't go into labor that day so we had to stay over the night. It was odd for me because the way this place worked and felt was different from Sesshomaru's. The next day I made Rin walk and her water popped. After that, I made her walk some more!
"Come on Rin, just walk a bit more. It's good for you before child birth." I coaxed the very tired and grouchy Rin. I was letting her hold onto my right arm for support as we walked. Half demon babies were a handful to carry and birth. Her human body wasn't ready to birth the child but the baby was ready to be birthed.
"I know but I'm so tired! Can't I sit down for a minute?" She asked.
"If you sit down now you won't want to get back up." I scolded her.
"Just let her rest for a moment! It can't be good for her or my pup if she's overly stressed and tired before child birth!" Riki said getting anxious as he followed behind us. He was practically trying to become one being with Rin with how close he walked behind her. It was both endearing and horribly annoying, for me that is. Rin seemed to be reveling in his closeness like a baby would a pasifyer or their baby blanket.
"Her body needs to be prepared, otherwise she will be in a lot of pain." I said narrowing my eyes at him.
"I think she has been prepared enough! Have you no sympathy?" He growled which in return earned him a growl from Sesshomaru. He was following at a respectable distance and had been encouraging Rin here and there. I dont know why I was so proud of him but I was. In fact him growling at Riki gave me a lot of satisfaction.
"I do, I hope that if I should bear a child that is not human Rin will be there to push me like I am her." I said coldly.
"I'll make sure of it, I can promise you that much." Riki grumbled. I made Rin walk for another five minutes before allowing her to go to the birthing chambers. The men stayed outside but I was allowed in. 'I'll keep you informed.' I mentally linked Sesshomaru.
There was two women in the room already with a futon, blanket, towels and a few bowls of hot water. I helped Rin lay down and sat beside her. I immediately closed my eyes and meditated sending my calmness to her. The women set to work on her, getting her ready for birth. Then it came time to push. She didn't yelled, but she did grunt a few times. It was a custom for women not to make loud noises during childbirth. Most Americans wouldn't agree to that though.
The walking had done her a lot of good because in three hours Rin was already halfway through childbirth. She had to stop pushing for a second before preforming one last push. The baby came out crying when the woman between Rins legs slapped it's butt. I opened my eyes and looked at the young pup. It was a boy not that I needed to see him to know that. He was cleaned and placed on Rin's chest. 'The birthing was a success, both Rin and the pup are healthy.' I relayed to Sesshomaru.
Quickly Rin was cleaned up as well and all evidence of the child being born was taken care of. Then finally the door was opened and the first to enter was Riki. I stood and stepped back from Rin to allow him to look over his mate and pup. I smiled smalley and stepped beside Sesshomaru. Jaken had come up near Rin and was teary eyed looking at the pup. It was a mini version of Rin with dog ears. Sesshomaru seemed transfixed on the scene before him. An odd pride, joy and pain was churning inside of him.
"I'll name you....Renami." Riki said taking the pup from Rin. "Do you agree mate?" He asked.
"Yes Love." She smiled tiredly. At that point I decided to walk out and so did Sesshomaru. This left Jaken to follow us after looking back one more time. The new family needed their alone time. We all just started walking around the strong hold. Sesshomaru was doing a double check, I was just happily walking. Today was a good day, not even the ocean could put a damper on this day.
