I walked beside Sesshomaru and Jaken munching on some fruit as we walked. The sky was cloudy now and it was about mid day. Slowly, a single snow flake danced in the air before landing on Jaken's nose. Then others followed and they speed up in their decent as if eager to meet the earth. It was cold but to counter this I loosened my kimono and shifted. Unlike my other shifts I turned into the typical werewolf form. Well I should say weredog. I was a dog with the posture of a human. This surprised Jaken greatly but for Sesshomaru it was just something.... Interesting. Him being a dog Demon, seeing me in a dog form caught his eye. Sure I wasn't on all fours or large but still. It would look to his primal side that I was a defective female dog, yet I held power that was just under his. For the first time I heard his primal voice. It was in a dog's tongue but a still understood it.
'Weird Female.' It growled in a non-threatening way. I saw him ever so slightly lean towards me and sniff. I watched from the corner of my eye as he did so and tried to keep the blush from creeping onto my face. 'Smells like a good bitch.' It said not as an insult but as a simple declaration. These thoughts weren't exactly like him thinking. It was his subconscious, his guard must've been let down by how strong his primal curiosity was peeked. His primal side was already introduced with me before. It knew who I was but I guess seeing me in this form brought me to it in a new light.
Out of sheer curiosity myself I got down to all four paws. It took me a second to find the right angle and position of my body to successfully walk as if a dog would. Once I did I practically pranced to catch up to them and wagged my tail holding it high. I was Alpha female even if me and the Alpha male weren't mates.
"I didn't know you could do that Milady! You look magnificent!" Jaken exclaimed making me huff in pride. He walked closer to me and eyed my black fur with interest. Even on all fours I was taller than him, standing to Sesshomaru's hip. I looked down at him wagging my tail before rubbing myself against him. The last thing to touch him was my tail which flicked under his nose causing him to sneeze. "Your fur is so sleek!" Jaken gushed not at all annoyed with me. I remember when me and him would butt heads. That was such a long time ago though. Time, it's a truly strange thing.
We continue and I found I liked padding around as a dog. My paws didn't protest to our constant walking. I assume it had to do with the way my weight we distributed to my four paws. It sounded like a good assumption. Eventually I got tired of my bag slipping down to my stomach that I took it off. I went to go carry it in my mouth but Jaken insisted on carrying it for me. I adjusted the strap for him so he could wear it like I did.
Night came and the snow continued. It covered the ground we treaded on. I believe it was working on its second inch by now. We didn't stop, I wasn't tired. With Sesshomaru so near I seemed to take up his ability to stay up for longer than a normal human. The second I heard water I diverted from the coarse Sesshomaru was setting to seek it out. Sesshomaru and Jaken continued on as I did so. The river I found was ice free but the water was so cold. I could've sworn it was going to give me brain freeze. Much to my relief it didn't. After taking my feel I bounded back to them. It wasn't that hard since I knew the direction they were going and could feel where Sesshomaru was.
It seemed like there was peace over the lands as we walked through. Humans were probably staying put to focus solely on surviving winter. Some demons hate the cold or hibernate through it. When morning came I stuck my head in my bag and grabbed out a salted piece of jerky meat. Jaken was good about keeping his pace even as I had my head in the bag. I chopped down on the meat and looked up at Sesshomaru to see him looking at me oddly. I tilted my head to the side swallowing the last of my meat. That odd expression was him simple noting me having thought ahead.
An hour passed and I trotted away to take a leak. I did it like a dog because why not? Though I had to lift up my kimono for it. It was better than having to do so as a human. I wasn't gone for but a few minutes so I didn't even need to do much more than look forward to see them. I noticed Sesshomaru stop when I caught up. For a moment he looked back at where we came from. It was like he sensed something.
