"single file line! no picking up snow, no throwing snow - do nothing with the snow! single file line into the mpr," ms. valeskes yells as classes 17-21 walk to the mpr.it's not like anyone is going to get sidetracked by the snow - its freezing! drew thinks to himself as he pulls his jacket tighter around himself.
"why would we want to play with snow in this temperature?" abby says under her breath. "exactly," drew laughs to himself.
"were gonna watch stuart little. everyone take a seat on the floor and we'll come around with a snack," the aid yells as the kids crowd into the room. drew and abby sit on the wall of the back of the room, and discuss how they don't want to watch the stupid movie. right as they decide how to get out of the room, a student volunteer hands them their snack for the movie - a bag of carrots and cheetos.
"why is it all orange?"
drew laughs and walks to the nearest aid, "hi, may i use the bathroom?" she nods and lets drew outside. drew jogs to the bathroom and takes cover inside the doorway until he sees abby sneak out of the back doors. drew runs to catch up with her and they run to the library. the freezing winds against their exposed faces feels like needles being stabbed into them, but they're too caught up in the race.
they step into the library to be greeted by mrs. shantell and the warmth numbing their red, icy faces. the two of them head for the science corner and grab the space book they've been reading for the past four years.
drew walks it over to the table and opens it to the first page. abby returns with a magazine in her hand. drew eyes the magazine with the olsen twins on the cover. abby's pink cheeks get darker, "...i'm just curious..." drew shrugs and goes back to reading about space dust.
