"the 'see you next year' posters are bittersweet, ya know?" drew says to abby as they slowly sway side to side on the yellow swingset. abby nods and grips the swing's chains tighter when they hit. drew looks across the playground to see clayton reading under the oak tree. "i still don't know why you guys are fighting... why can't we all be nice?" drew sighs and steps away from the swings. abby follows, "hey, we should go to the library. last time to the library during recess? how bout it?"drew smiles, "okay!" the two of them run to opposite ends of the blacktop and sneak into the classroom area and bolt for the library. drew checks the space book out, "it's just for during recess, we'll have it back right after."
abby and drew run to the bushes separating classrooms 6 and 7 and crouch down into the small hole they used to hide in. "it's smaller than i remember. very cramped," abby whispers to drew as they sit across from each other with the book in their laps. abby reaches into her backpack and pulls out her purple glitter pen, "lets do this."

"no way. you did not vandalize the space book! what'd you even write?"clayton asks drew, grinning ear to ear. "i wrote 'see you in drewville' and abby wrote 'xoxo, from abbyland'," drew beams.
i can't wait till next year when we're all together in middle school!
