POV: ABBY

abby watches her little cousins play with their dolls in front of the fireplace. abby, being the oldest out of her three cousins, was told to watch them as the adults play pool in her grandparents' gameroom. the three little girls, all under the age of ten, sent their dollies on magical adventures along the fireplace rim while abby spotted a phone.

i really want to call drew... but that's probably the last thing he wants from me... he hates-

"oh, my dearest abigail, what are you doing just sitting here?" she looks up to see grandma holding a plate of steaming cookies. abby smiles as big as she can, "ive been sentenced to babysitting." grandma tisks her tongue and sets the plate down on the coffee table, "do you want to hang out with me? we could... i don't know... color?" grandma reaches into a basket and pulls out a coloring book of fairies.

grandma takes a seat beside abby on the couch and pulls the coloring book onto both of their laps, "here, have a cookie." abby eyes the delicious smelling cookie but shakes her head, "i'm okay right now - still pretty full from dinner." grandma nods knowingly but takes a big bite of the chocolate cookie.

"good night guys," abby says as she closes the door to her own room. she peels off her clothes and changes into her pajamas. she sinks into the big bed covered in fluffy blankets and pops her earbuds in. she scrolls through the songs on her ipod she got last christmas and clicks on a beatles song that reminds her of drew.

the first key makes her throat tighten and tears to her eyes. she shuts her eyes and steadies her breathing.

sounds of laughter shades of earth are ringing
through my open views inciting and inviting me
limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns

she feels three tears slide down her face to the blankets. we used to be so happy. what the hell happened? what the hell did i do?

jesus what did i do...
