"valentine's day cards! 3 for $5! tell your crush how you feel," a parent volunteer announces from a table in the busy cafeteria as everyone heads to their next class.
i feel kinda bad for not giving out any valentines this year... drew thinks to himself gazing at the card table.
he sees henry jog up to him and put his arm around his shoulder "hey drew, you have ms. valasqez's english now right?" drew rolls his eyes, "sadly, yes. why?" henry pulls his arm down and shoves his hands in his sweatshirt pocket, "just wondering what class you're gonna get suzy and my valentines in."
drews stomach drops with guilt, "oh, heh yeah. looking forward to it. hey i just remembered i left something in the cafeteria. i'll see you later." drew runs to the cafeteria, dammit i should've gotten valentines earlier.
-----
"andrew gowen, you have three valentines," the skinny dad volunteer shouts from the front of the class with a bag of cards and a list of names. drew raises his hand and catches the cards the dad lovingly throws over the students heads.
three? suzy, henry, and... oh crap. abby i forgot
he opens the first red envelope to find a green pink card with a dog on it reading, 'id catch a bone for you'. inside henry wrote, 'why are all the valentines cards so cringe? anyways, love ya man'. drew snorts and shakes his head and moves onto the next red envelope.
the next card has a squirrel on it with a nut, inside it reads, 'i'm nuts for you' and under it is a handwritten note, 'i hate these stupid cards but i like you! miss you - we should hang out soon. <3, abby'. drew smiles when he sees the two planets drawn on the card. drewville and abbyland.
the third card has a picture of a candy heart on it saying 'be mine'. there's a long handwritten note inside saying, 'drew, i really like you. sorry. i like how smart you are and how strong you are and you're super good at soccer and you'd never do anything to make me upset. i like you. love, suzy'.
ah jeez.
