"what is your favorite part about summer, abby?" drew asks as they swing side to side, bumping into each other on the swings. abby thinks carefully, "the sunsets." drew nods slowly, "yeah. they're pretty."
abby drags her feet in the wood chips, "what's yours?" drew gives a small smile, "popsicles melting on the sidewalk." abby giggles and agrees it is pretty amazing.
they watch several first graders draw in each other yearbooks and giggle. "oh yeah! sign my yearbook drew!" abby pulls it into her lap and finds her purple marker. drew giggles and starts to draw a big circle and fills it in with little stars. under the circle her writes as neat as he can, ABBYLAND. abby laughs and yells, "it's my planet! yay! i finally get a planet!"
"august is a long time away, drew." drew nods, his smile disappears. "yeah. it is. but we're not gonna forget about each other." abby shakes her head quickly, "no! never. best friends forever."
