"happy birthday drew!" david yells as he runs to the park's covered picnic tables that are decorated in star wars balloons and banners. drew thanks him and invites him to play tag with the kids there. drew stands close to the present table, examining the hill of gifts he's received from his family and friends. clayton rolls up beside him to begin to make guesses about each one.clayton takes off his darth vader mask, "i think the small one on the corner is a lightsaber." drew's eyes light up, "really? you think so?" he asks as he crams three potato chips into his mouth. clayton smiles, "i know so." drew smirks, "is that your gift?" clayton frowns and shakes his head, "no. remember, i have the force. you have a lot to learn young padawan." drew laughs, "hey! i am on the jedi council! highest order, lord vader!" they giggle and munch on a few more chips.
abby jumps onto drew's back and yells, "hey-o drew! happy birthday!" drew shakes her off and hugs her normally, "thanks abby! cool costume! you make an awesome leia!" abby giggles and punches his arm, "thanks. hey heres your present! i'm gonna go see if i can find someone real quick, okay?"
drew smiles and nods, "thanks abby." drew and clayton stare at the very flat present in his hand. drew twirls it in his hand a couple times, "what's this flat?" clayton takes it into his hands, "a calendar?" drew frowns and shakes his head, "no. we always give meaningful presents. not calenders..." clayton nods slowly and hands it back to drew.
it can't be a calendar... wheres abby gone anyway?
drew looks around to the group of his cousins and friends playing hide and seek. his eyes fall on a circle of girls who didn't wear costumes and finds his friend sitting with them. laughing. her eyes squinty. hand over her mouth.
abby never covers her mouth when she laughs...
