It's Friday night and we're waiting for two more people to join us before entering the Loud Bar.
One thing I have to admit: I'm a little bit nervous about seeing Avery again.
It's normal, right? I haven't seen her since Saturday and we barely talk.
Since it's rock night, I chose black jeans and a gray t-shirt with white lips stamped. I figured it would go well with the scene.
When everyone was ready, we entered the bar. We stop by the door and we took a look around this new place and we were pleasantly surprised. This place is the opposite of Fitzold. Except for the smell. In both places, you could smell the beer and smoke even before you walked through the doors.
The lack of light was the first thing I noticed. Fitzold has lights along the walls and ceiling, whereas the Loud Bar is dark. The brightest light is the one above the bar that's in front of the door. Behind it there are two young people working while still enjoying the music. On the left corner, there's a small and low stage. The band is already performing a song by the Pretty Reckless and people are standing in front of them, singing as loud as they can when the band asks them to. On the right side of the bar, there are some tables and chairs that are far from the crowd. This is somewhat similar to Fitzold, that also has tables separated from the dancing area for people who prefer a quieter place. Between the crowd that is listening to the band and the quieter area, there are only a few tall tables without seats. We manage to find an empty one by the door probably because most people stepped closer to the band leaving some free tables. For us, it was perfect. It was not in the sitting area, too far from the action, but it was far enough from the crowd.
Greg, Richard, and Oliver went over by the bar to order some beers. I stay at the table with Sarah and Daniel. I'm looking around searching for Avery but my eyes have yet to adjust to the darkness of the room and the smoke that lingers in the air. A couple open windows would be great. Windows, at all, would be great.
The rest of the group arrives with beer and Richard tells me that Avery is by the bar with some friends. I look over to the place he pointed out and I see a long blonde girl that I recognize as Avery, although I can't see her face.
Daniel and Sarah want to get closer to the band and they drag me and Oliver with them. The rest stays at our table laughing at us.
I don't know the songs the band is playing, but that doesn't stop me from trying to sing it.
Me and my friends are enjoying this way more than I thought we would. Hell, I thought only Richard would enjoy this because he has some rock song in his playlist. I was afraid the rest would be bored after a while, but that doesn't seem to be the case. And Richard looks busy, and happy, talking with Kaylah.
I look over to the bar and I see Avery. She's looking at me with a wide smile on her face. I see her making her way to where I am and my heartbeat accelerates.
-"Not to sound like a creep, but I watched you for a while and it seems to me that you were singing all these songs!" She says, leaning closer to my left ear and gives me a playful nudge with her elbow.
-"I'm pretending! If you could hear me, you would think I'm summoning a demon in an ancient language." I get closer to her so she could hear me.
We both laugh and maintain a steady eye contact that lasts for a while, not saying a word. Her bright eyes stand out in this dark bar. That look is addictive. I can't look away and I'm barely blinking. I'm trying to read her. I'm trying to understand what she's telling me with those brown eyes. But how can I, when I'm not even able to understand what I'm telling her with mine?
