Avery's been sleeping for more than two hours now, waking up occasionally to make sure I didn't leave.
I spent the time stroking her hair with one hand and texting Sarah and Alessa with the other.
I told them about my conversation with Avery and about her meeting with Sophia. This time I didn't speak with them needing some advice. I just touched based with them because they helped me through the last few days and they were worried about me. About us.
I reassured them as much as I reassured myself.
The truth is, I'm still scared. I still don't want her to go. I still wish she would go with me to Italy. But that's not changing. All I can do is trust her.
I feel her turning on the couch so I put my cellphone down on the armrest.
She stretches her body and looks at me after.
-"Hey." She says with a sleepy voice.
-"Hey. Good morning." I return with a small smile.
-"Thank you for this. I needed it." She grabs my hand and kisses it, softly.
-"Well, I was responsible for it so...it was the least I could do." I sigh and speak again, not leaving room for her to fight me on this. "Do you want to eat something here? I could make lunch."
-"Lunch? What time is it?" I unlock my phone and show her the screen that reads 12h37. Her eyes widen. "Thanks, but...I was planning on going home to take a shower before going to meet her."
She sits on the couch facing me.
-"Right, of course." I'm sure I'm showing all the pain I'm feeling right now, so I try to light up the mood. "Well, I'm actually hungry and I couldn't move for the past two hours so..."
We both chuckle as I stand up from the couch and go to the kitchen to start preparing something simple.
After going to the bathroom, she starts to gather all her stuff and waits by the door.
-"Talk later?" She asks and swallows hard.
-"Of course." I try to act positively. "Call me when your free. Or...come here."
She nods.
We're both standing, facing each other, awkwardly.
-"Fuck! Please, kiss me." I beg, not wanting her to leave to meet her ex-girlfriend without a kiss from her actual girlfriend.
She gives me a half smile before taking a step forward. She grabs my neck and pulls my slowly into a kiss.
It's a soft and passionate kiss. One that is so full of promises that it almost makes me start crying again.
-"I love you." I say, as we part from the kiss.
-"I know, Ems. I love you too." She sighs and turns to leave.
-"I'll be waiting for you." I blurt out when she's already on the outside.
-"I trust that you will." I hear her yell after closing the door.
I groan in frustration and resume my cooking. I don't have the energy for anything complicated but I need to eat something.
After eating, I went back to bed, listening to music while falling in and out of sleep again, always looking at the clock from time to time and wondering how the conversation between Avery and Sophia was going.
I also cleaned the house, worked on my thesis, cooked, and watched tv. That's how long she took.
Now, it's 9pm. 10 minutes ago, Avery sent me a text asking if she could come here. Obviously, my heart's been racing ever since and I'm pacing back and forth in my apartment waiting for her. When I replied to her question, I asked if everything was okay and she simply said 'yes' followed by a '10 minutes and I'm there'.
