Chapter 52

Kim Namjoon's POV
After Jimin walked out from the cafeteria, some students started whispering. "Let's talk this out outside shall we?" I insisted. All the guys including Jackson looked at each other and nodded. All of us went to the school's garden where no student was around. "Wait... Why should we believe everything you said earlier?" Jungkook asked Jackson. "Because she told me. I went to her house earlier. I took care of her." Jackson said while glaring at V. "Now talk." Suga hyung said while looking at V. V sighed and looked at us before speaking. "It's true... I did broke up with her... to be with Minji." V said, not daring to look at us. "But why?! Are you out of your mind?! Minji is your ex for f*cks sake!! Why would you dump Areum for that girl?!" Suga hyung shouted. "Why?! You can't blame me! She's been with Jackson for the past month! She didn't have time for me!" Taehyung shouted while glaring at Jackson. "Me?! You're blaming me?! You dumped her because of that stupid jealousy?! That's so shallow of you!" Jackson shouted back. "Sure we're your friends and all,V.. But Jackson's right. That's so shallow of you." Jhope hyung said and the rest of us nodded in agreement. "Shallow or not, I made my decision. Minji loves me and I still love her. She's my first love." Taehyung said. All of us looked at Taehyung with disappointment in our eyes. "You're just blind hyung.. Minji doesn't love you." Jungkook said and I nodded in agreement. "She loves me, I know it."  V said. He stood up and looked at Jackson. "I guess you got what you wanted." Taehyung said. "What? What are you talking about?" Jackson asked. Taehyung scoffed and shook his head. "I know you like her. That's why you failed all your previous tests on purpose right? So you could be with her." Taehyung said. Jackson just stood there silent. Taehyung's smirk grew wider. "See? You can't even say anything right now because we both know that what I said was right." Taehyung continued. He gave Jackson one last glance and went back inside the school. "What was-" I didn't got to finish my sentence when Jackson excused himself and went back inside too. The rest of us looked at each other. "So... What are we gonna do?" Jin hyung asked. "I don't know hyung... But one thing's for sure. I ain't talking to V hyung." Jungkook said. "Same. I mean, how could he dump Areum for Minji?! That's just insane!" Suga hyung said and Jhope hyung nodded in agreement. "Yah, just take it easy guys. Don't be too harsh." I said. All of them just looked at me and shrugged.

Park Jimin's POV
"How could he?!?!" I screamed. No one could hear me since I was on the rooftop. I'm so mad at V right now. If I only knew that this will happen,  I wouldn't have let V ask Areum to be his girlfriend. Of course I asked her to be my best friend but that doesn't change the fact that I still like her. Heck, I still love her. I looked at my knuckles and saw the bruises that I made from punching the wall. I ignored it and continued to clear my mind.

It was already dismissal and I decided to pay Areum a visit. As I was about to exit the school premise, I saw V and Minji hanging out in the cafe across school. I mentally scoffed. That jerk.. I thought. I decided to ignore them and kept walking. Once I arrived, I knocked on the door, I immediately regretted doing it. I forgot I had a bruise on my knuckles. I winced in pain. I rang the doorbell instead. After a few seconds, I heard footsteps and the door opened only to reveal Jackson. "Jackson? What are you doing here?" I asked. "I'm taking care of her. How about you? Why are you here?" He said. "I just wanted to pay her a visit. I didn't got to visit her because of our hectic schedule." I answered honestly. Jackson just nodded and let me in. "Come, she's in her room." Jackson said and I followed him. "Hey, you go ahead. I'll just answer this call." He said and went back downstairs. I opened the door slightly and peeked. I saw Areum lying on her bead while staring at the ceiling. She looked different. She was thin and pale. My heart shattered when I saw her in that state. "Hey, I thought you went inside already? Anyways, my manager called and I need to go. You go take care of Areum okay?" He said and I just nodded. He went inside and talked to Areum. "Hey, I'll be going now okay? My manager called me and I really need to go. Don't worry, Jimin's here to take care of you. Okay?" I heard him say. I peeked and saw Areum nod. "Okay." she said. Jackson left the room and patted my back. "Take care of her okay?" he said. "Even if you don't say it, I will." I said. He just looked at me for a second before replying, "Good." and with that, he left. I opened the door door and entered her room. "Hey Areum." I greeted her. She just turned her head and gave me a small smile. "Hey Chim." she greeted back. She patted the space on her bed for me to sit which I gladly obeyed. I took her small hands and saw the bandage on her wrist which made me frown. She doesn't deserve this. I thought. I looked at her and smiled a bit. "I'm sorry if I wasn't there for you. We were just so busy and-" "It's okay Jimin. I understand." she said and squeezed my hand to reassure me but I can't help but wince a bit. She saw my reaction and looked at my hand. "What happened? Why do you have bruises on your knuckles?" She asked, with concern in her eyes. "I just punched a wall. It's nothing really." I said. "Could you get the first aid kit for me?" she asked. "If you're planning to treat my bruise, don't. I'm fine." I said trying to reassure her. "Let me." She insisted. "No. You don't have to." "Jimin." "No." "Just let me." "It's okay. I'm fine." "Park. Jimin." "Okay okay I'm getting the first aid kit!" I said in defeat.

"You know, sometimes I wonder why you guys are still staying here. You know, in my life." She said while putting some ointment on my bruise. "Why? I don't see any reason to leave." I replied. "Everyone who's important to me either gets taken away from me or leaves me." She said and wrapped my hand with a bandage. "Well I'm not one of them. I'll be always here by your side. I promise. " I said and held her hand. "Thanks. Even though you didn't have to do this." I said while motioning my hand. "Thanks but I think I don't believe in promises anymore." She said as she smiled sadly. "I understand. But that doesn't mean I'll break that promise. Just let me okay?" I said while smiling a bit. She laughed a bit and smiled back. "I wonder why Namjoon keeps saying you got no jams when you clearly have one." She said. "Finally!!!" I said while I raised my hands up in the air. "How about we watch a movie downstairs? It's bad if you just keep hanging around in your room." I said. "Alright alright." She said as she was about to get up. "Let me help you." "I'm fine Jimin." I didn't listen to her and picked her up. She got surprised that I felt her grip tighten on my shoulder.

We were in the middle of the movie when I felt Areum shift beside me. I looked at her and saw her shivering a bit. "Wait here okay?" I said and she nodded. I went to her room and took her blanket with me and went back to the living room then wrapped her blanket around her. "Thanks." She said. "Anything for my best friend." I said. And smiled back. If only I could tell you I still love you.. I thought. Even though I badly want to tell her I still love her.. I can't. She's still broken.. I'll just have to wait. I didn't ask her to be my best friend so I could get closer with her. I asked her to be my best friend because I truly care for her. That I have this feeling that I should be by her side.

I suddenly woke up and saw the movie has ended. I looked at Areum who was beside me, sleeping peacefully. I yawned and turned off the TV. I looked at the time and saw it was already 10 pm. Maybe I'll just stay here for the night. I can't leave Areum alone here. I slowly pulled her closer to me and lay down on the couch with her head resting on my chest. I secured her with my arms as I brushed a strand of hair away from her face. "Good night Areum.. I love you.." I whispered then closed my eyes and drifted to sleep.
