chapter 11

* Bruno's POV *

"W-wh-what do you mean? What kid?"

Why was I stuttering?! I'm just making it worse! Damn it, he made that face again. That 'Gotcha' face...

"Are you gonna let your brother in?"

I let him in. He walked around the room, observing every little detail. Dang it.

"So what brings you here Eric?" I tried to sound calm. He looked at me. "Remember that girl you used to date a couple of months ago? What was her name.... Lenora?"

I tensed up. Oh hell no! She went to ask Eric where I lived?! That can be the only way she would find me.

I relaxed and rejected the question. "Lenora? That name doesn't ring a bell" I think he bought it. "She's that girl you dated about 10 months ago. The drug addict?"

I acted like it rang a bell. "Oh her! Now I remember. What about her?" He stared at me. "She saw me at a Walmart about a week ago and she asked me where you lived."

I didn't like where this was going.

He continued. "I asked her why and she showed me a baby. She said she was yours so I told her, so you could see your daughter. And she left right there."

I acted calm. "Oh now I remember! I thought she was a homeless girl who wanted money. She kept ratting on that the kid was mine. But I thought it was just to get me to keep the girl. So I just gave her some money and made her leave....why did you tell a person where I live if I don't talk with them anymore?"

He bought it. "Sorry Peter. You're right. I shouldn't have done that" I nodded, "Don't worry about it. I'll see you on Christmas Eve. You'll like the present I got you"

"Alright. And you'll like the present I got for you too"

Just when I opened the door. Phil.

"Hey Peter. How you've been? And how's the baby....." He stared at Eric.

Eric gave me a devilish grin. "Yeah Peter. How's the baby?"

I got a lot of explaining to do.....
