Chapter 39

* Helena's POV *

I look at my master.

His brightness.

His mercy.

His leniency.

I wish I had such things.

I kneel. "My lord."

He was grazing his necklace. "Helena... I feel a disturbance. Valentín and his Serpent have taken more mortals. The Khoury."

I felt my head go up. "Khoury? That is the family of my child's friend. What has become of them?"

My lord stood up. "That is why I summoned you Helena. Natalie is your polar opposite. She will have to tell you. I cannot figure out what has happened to them. For some reason Valentín has blocked my vision from them."

"That is unfortunate... My Lord. I shall figure this incident. I shall return soon"

With that, I flew down from the Heavens and to Natalie's mansion. I turned into my mortal self and knocked on her door. She opened it, showing her ear to ear grin. Literally.

"Helena! What a pleasant surprise!... well not really. what do you want?"

"Can you please let me in first?"

Natalie escorted me to the dining room. The Victorian table was nicely polished with its acrylic chairs tucked nicely in a row. For a satanic servant, she has good taste. I see where I get it from.

She gestured me to a seat. I sat gratefully and she sat as well.

I haven't realized until now.... Natalie's hands were red like blood. "So Helena. What brings you here?"

I fold my hands together. "Well, Natalie. My master has told me that you and Valentín have taken more mortals. The Khoury. I am here to know what has become of them."

Natalie grinned. "I had to see if Rachelle was special. Like Genie. I was right." she laughed. I sighed. "Did you kill her family?"

Natalie grazed her chin. "Well... not really. I mean we got full"

I felt myself heat up. I see Natalie cover her eyes. She yelled out in pain.

"Helena... I admire your beauty of fire, but please... not in my lady's home"

I let the flames subside. I felt an extreme cold enter my skin. I turn around seeing Him. His black eyes gazing down on my hazel eyes. He moved his white bangs across his face.

"V-Valentín"

He chuckled. "Helena. Are you afraid? An Archangel is not so easily frightened. I am honored."

I sat up straight. Never in my time as an Archangel, have I seen Valentín. He looks more frightening in person.

"No Valentín. I'm just... shocked to see you here. I was asking Natalie of the Khoury. My Master told me you and my other self had something to do with their disappearance."

Valentín sat next to me. I felt the chills again. "Helena, Helena, Helena. Must you always get into our business? Yes me and Natalie took the Khoury and we had a nice dinner."

He laughed.

I exhaled sharply. "Valentine.... you've broken the accords with us. You swore. You wouldn't take more mortals."

Valentín stood up. I saw black flames surrounding him.

"Like my son Jonathan.... times have changed. Words on paper mean nothing... you mean nothing. Go and tell your master this 'If he wishes for us to compromise. That He brings himself to me. Only then I shall make amends.' Otherwise.... more people shall become my victims... oh! and just to make it clear that I'm not joking...."

The black flames fly toward me. I didn't have time to react. I gasp as I felt the darkness enter my light. Valentín and Natalie laughed. I look at my hair.... It's dark as night. My skin was paler than the moon.

"What... have you done?!"

Valentín smirked. "I believe the darkness suits you better Helena. Pity. Go to your master now"

He flicked his wrists. I saw only darkness.

I awoke in the Heavens again. My Lord stood over me. His blue eyes were filled with agony and shock.

"Helena... what has become of you..."

"My Lord... Valentín.... he broke the Accords. He wants you to go to him and compromise... he did this to me just to be clear"

I felt no light. Only darkness.... I wrapped my arms around myself. I held back the tears. If I cried, my Lord would feel my fear.

He placed his hand on my head. "Helena... Do not think of me as your Master. But as a friend. Cry... I understand your situation. Cry. I understand"

I felt the tears run down. I felt light again. I felt the heat again. "Thank you my friend. Thank you Krishna"

* I chose Krishna because of the other series I read.
