Chapter 28

* Bruno's POV *

I dropped Genie off at her school. I parked my car and went into the office. Everyone always gives me the second glance. I always hear the secretaries whispering.

"OMG it's Bruno Mars!"

"Give his daughter better grades!"

"He's so hot"

"Genie's lucky to have him for a father"

I clear my throat. "Umm, excuse me, I'm here to see Principal Lewis." One of the secretaries, the youngest one, came to me, popping out her chest. God, they let her wear such revealing clothes at work? "Yes Mr. Mars. Come with me"

She led me to Principal Lewis' office. She gave me a piece of paper. Giving me a wink before she left. I opened the paper. "In need of a booty call??" I flipped the paper over. Her number was in the back.

I groan and put the paper in my pocket. I went into the office. "Mr. Lewis?" He was sitting in those giant chairs. "Mr. Mars! Please sit. Cigar?" I accept the cigar and I cut to the chase.

"I need help. There's this guy. He's the Vice president of Atlantic Records and he wants to give me a deal. But I need to sing somewhere public and if the people like my singing, I got the job."

The principal looked at me. "What does my school have to do with this?" I chuckled. "Well, can I sing here? I'll sing a few of my songs with my group and that'll be that!" Lewis did not seem amused. "I don't let just anyone sing in my gym."

"I know! But, I'm already famous. Right?"

"Right, but there's a small fee"

"How about this. If I make the deal, your school gets 20% of my paycheck. You need the money, right?"

"....true"

"So, do we have a deal?"

"We have a deal Mr. Mars. I expect the crowd to be amused."

"You won't regret this sir"

-Later that Day-

"Alright guys, back from the top! One two three four!
Ah yes

Another pretty thang ready for me to grab

Genie clapped. We all bowed. "Sing I was only dancing Dad!!" I nod and cue the guys.

"You know I'd never try to break your heart, no no no no no
It's unfair, I was just standing there
OH well there's no need for us to fall apart oh oh oh oh oh
She grabbed my hand, I'd thought you'd understand Ooh
But in your pretty eyes, I saw your heart dropped

It's not what it looks like,

Genie giggled. "Yay!!!" I laugh. "Thank Genie for the song guys!"

Everyone yelled at the top of their lungs. "THANKS GENIE!!!" Genie laughed. "Your wel.." she yelled out and fell to the ground.

"GENIE" I ran to her. She was clutching her chest. "Daddy, it hurts" I panicked. "Umm, it's okay Genie, I got your medicine." I grab the pills from my backpack and the water bottle. I give her two pills and a cup filled with water. She takes the pills and drinks the water.

* Genie's POV *

That hurt.

A lot.

I felt a big pain in my chest. Like my heart was about to burst of something.

Good thing I got my dad!! He gave me those red candy pieces and the water. I took them and the pain went away. I gave him a big hug. "Thank you daddy!!" He hugs me back. "You're welcome Genie"

He was crying. I smiled. I told my dad I had to use the bathroom. He let me go.

* Bruno's POV *

It's scary. Having a sick child. You never know when's your last day with them. That's me with Genie.... the blood tests... they showed she had a problem with her heart. Supposedly, she wasn't supposed to make it this far. She has a strong system then.

"Bruno"

"Yeah Phil?"

"What did you give her?"

"Antibiotics. The good kind. They'll get rid of the pain and help with her heart problem."

"When are you gonna tell her she has a problem with her heart that will eventually kill her?"

"Aren't you a little ray of sunshine Phil. No I'm not going to tell her. She's so happy with this assembly we're doing for her school. I don't want to ruin her happiness."

"I get it Bruno. But you know, in case you need anything. We're here, okay?"

I nod. That's when Genie came back. With a woman. "Daddy! Look who it is! She's the lady that gives me candy by the school! Miss Cortez!"

I felt like those characters in the cartoons. Dropping my mouth to the ground with my tongue rolling out. Miss Cortez.... is H-O-T!!!!

She smiled shyly at me. "Hello, you must be Genevieve's father. I'm.."

"Miss Cortez. Jeez, if I knew you were so beautiful, I'd lower my sugar levels just to see you" she blushed. She's putty in my hands now.

"You're cheesy Mr. Mars, and I prefer you call me Natalie."

I chuckle. "Well, being cheesy is my thing, and I think, Natalie is a gorgeous name for you. "

She looks at me funny. After awhile of chatting, she gave me post it note. It had her number on it.

Looks like I'll be having fun with Miss Cortez. Wink wink
