Chapter 23

* Bruno's POV *

Shit... what do I do now?!

"Umm, Genie... how about we talk about this in the house? Yeah?"

Genie still looked sad, but she nodded. I put her in the car and drove off. She stared at the window and started singing to this song me and Phil wrote a while ago.

"She's dancing with the stars, and oh how the lights are shining. She's building castles of white sand. Reflections in the mirror, her best friend. Oh she's dancing with the stars. The stars, keep dancing..."

Then she switched off to another.

"We are young. We run free. Stay up late. We don't sleep. Got our friends. Got the night, we'll be alright!!"

I like her voice but I butted in with my song. "You can count on me like one, two, three and I'll be there. And I know when I need it I can count on you like four, three, two and you'll be there. Cause that's friends are supposed to do, AW YEAH!"

We started laughing. She needed some cheering up.

I got an idea... I stopped at this mail office. I told Genie I'd be right back, I had to get something. I go in and immediately, I check the photos in my phone... yes! I still have a pic of her. Of Lenora.

It's a photo I took when she was modeling herself in a safari outfit... She looked hot. Hot and dangerous. I just went and asked the lady to print out the picture.

She does and I grab a postcard, an envelope and a pen. I grabbed the photo and taped it to the postcard. I wrote down about a paragraph that sounds motherly, and put the postcard in the envelope. I payed the lady and went to the car.

I gave Genie the envelope. "You wanted to know where your mom is right? I was gonna go get it tomorrow, but since you wanted to know..." She smiled and opened it up. She grabbed the postcard and tried to read the words. I sit next to her and read the note.

Hey Genevieve. Or should I say... Genie Mars? How have you been? I hope your father is treating you well. I'm sorry I can't be with you. I've been busy with my job. I'm guessing you want to know what it is right?? Well... I'm like Dora the Explorer, I explore the world and help people and animals that need helping!!! you can tell why Bruno married me now, right? Yeah, I'm stuck in an island somewhere near Africa. It sucks. Always gets hot here... but the animals and sceneries are beautiful! Well, I hope you're having a lot of fun there in Hawaii. I miss you.
